— What do you mean she was engaged? — the question slips from my lips, still taken by shock.

I shake my head.
Catherine's mother purses her lips, clearly showing she's not pleased that her daughter is hiding things from me.
— Then I suggest you talk to my daughter, she can explain many things to you. — she sighs.
