CHAPTER 3

CATHERINE SMITH We arrived at the club about thirty minutes later. We had to park the car about two blocks away from the entrance because of all the imported cars parked nearby. We saw several very well-dressed women waiting in line at the nightclub. After finally getting there and waiting an hour in line, the security guard took our tickets and handed us two masks from a box, leaving us confused. "Why the masks?" Claire asked. "You have VIP tickets for our nightclub, which gives you access to our exclusive VIP floor. Everything is all-inclusive to ensure a wonderful night. Welcome! This young man will accompany you and show you the way," a lady replied. I widened my eyes at Clay, who smiled at me. "Our night is going to be even better than we imagined, my friend." I entered the club, nervous but trying to stay calm. We passed by the crowded dance floor, but the boy guiding us led us to an elevator. As soon as we entered, he pressed the button for the second floor, leaving just the two of us inside. When the doors closed, I said: "Is there a kidnapper upstairs, Clay?" I asked worriedly. She laughed. "What will a kidnapper gain by kidnapping us, Cath?" "Ah, your car!" I answered the obvious. She laughed and nodded her head negatively. “Friend, they have several imported cars out there. You can be sure that my car will be the last option for the criminals.” Before I questioned her again, the elevator door opened, giving a view to a more neutral environment. The music playing is loud, but not as much as at the bottom. I noticed that everyone here wore masks too, and the very elegant waiters passed among the people with a tray with drinks served in glasses and others in very beautiful glasses. I could have sworn that this was no ordinary nightclub. My friend practically pulled me out of the elevator. "I want to leave," I said, startled to see some men in the corner looking at us. “Catherine Smith, you're going to enjoy yourself tonight, get this.” She held a glass from the waiter's tray. "Thank you." She thanked the man and looked at me. "You're going to drink a little, you need to let go friend, and let's enjoy this night like never before." “But...” “It's your night to start over, my friend, come on, let's begin!” she said, widening her smile to motivate me. I was hesitant, but I did as she said. After two drinks, I'm already dancing in the middle of the dance floor, and I’m not even good at dancing, since I don't do it often. The night was truly perfect, but soon I felt someone place a hand on my waist. My body trembled at the touch, and I quickly turned around, coming face to face with a tall man with light eyes. I couldn't see his face because he was also wearing a mask that covered almost all of it, but I could see his well-shaped mouth and his white teeth smiling at me. One of his strong hands was firmly on my waist, and I couldn't move. Actually, I didn't think I even wanted to. “What a beautiful brunette I've had the pleasure of meeting tonight.” his deep voice was close to my ear, just for me to hear. I felt the space between my legs tighten. My God, what is this? I wondered, still motionless with this man's hands on me. I smiled subtly at him, biting my lower lip before looking at him again and replying. "I was just dancing," I told him the first thing that came to mind because I don’t even know how to act now. He ran his tongue over his lips before saying, "No, you were putting on a show, but that’s to be expected. A beautiful brunette like you would definitely attract everyone’s attention." I felt my cheeks blush. "Enjoy it, Cath," Claire said close to my other ear. "Take good care of my friend, mister," Claire told the guy, who smiled. "She's in good hands," he assured her without letting go of me. I got even more embarrassed. "Shall we have a drink?" he asked, offering me his drink. I nodded, accepting the drink, it would definitely help me relax because, right now, I’m feeling even more tense. As soon as I took a sip, I noticed it was sweeter than all the others I've had. He took a sip right after. "Now let's dance, beautiful," the man said. All I remember is starting to dance with that man. He kissed me, and my body began to heat up. Shortly after, we headed toward a hallway, kissing and making out along the way. The next day... I woke up the next morning as the day began to brighten with the rising sun. I realized I was still wearing the mask. I looked at my body and noticed that I was naked, with several hickeys all over me. "What happened?" I whispered. I turned to the side and saw a man sleeping next to me. I couldn't see his face because he was covering it with his arm, but his body was also naked, and I could see his handsome physique. Quickly, I got out of bed, startled, searching for my clothes. "You're so hot, gorgeous!" Memories of the night started flooding my mind. Oh, what is this feeling? I asked as he entered me again, but the sensation was pleasant. "I'm taking you to paradise, you stunning beauty!" he whispered hoarsely in my ear as he quickened his movements. I pushed away my thoughts and quickly left the room, leaving the man sleeping on the bed, and I realized we were in a room in the same nightclub. I might not remember much, but the marks on my body definitely showed that it was the best night of my life. I caught a bus and headed to Claire's place. As soon as I rang her doorbell and my friend opened the door, her eyes widened. "I was just about to send the entire Second Street police force after you," she said, noticing the marks on my neck. "But I see you had a fantastic night," she added, laughing. "I slept with a stranger, Clay! How could you let me go off with him?" I asked, my eyes wide in disbelief. She sighed. “When I looked for you, you weren’t at the club anymore. I was worried and searched for you everywhere, but no one had seen you, so I came home if you showed up. If you didn’t, I would call the police. But now, tell me everything that happened.” I laid down on her bed. “I don’t even remember much from that night. My mind is blank, and my head is exploding.” “Calm down. I’ll get some medicine, and we’ll try to make you remember.” I talked with my friend and recounted even the parts I remember. Claire just said it's very sad that I don't remember the best night of my life, and deep down I think the same. I only knew that I had s*x with an amazing man, whose name I don't know, whose face I didn't see, and who I will probably never see again since I don't plan to do that madness again. So, I will never set foot in that nightclub again. What I didn’t know was that this night would never be forgotten, as I would always have memories of it by my side in the future.
