1304 Words
Chapter 6: Sweetheart Stacey Charley was utterly shocked. "Do you have a husband?" She and Elizabeth Black attended the same school and were in the same major. They had both been single their entire lives, so how could Elizabeth Black suddenly have a husband? "Mm." Elizabeth Black nodded. The bus had already arrived, and everyone was getting off. Elizabeth Black looked into Stacey Charley's eyes and said, "Stacey Charley, I never told you, but I'm actually married. My husband is Rupert Washington." There was a bit of noise around them, and Stacey Charley didn't hear clearly who it was. "Rupert Washington." Elizabeth Black repeated. This time, Stacey Charley heard clearly and was stunned for a moment. The next second, she burst out laughing. "Elizabeth, I didn't know you had such a sense of humor." Elizabeth Black: "..." Will Tennyson, who was behind her, also heard clearly. When he first heard Elizabeth Black say she had a husband, his heart skipped a beat. Now, hearing that it was Rupert Washington, Will Tennyson's face turned grim. "Elizabeth Black!" Will Tennyson let out a breath, "Why are you making jokes about everything now? Even marriage can be a joke to you? Don't learn from those mindless star chasers." Elizabeth Black fell silent. So, in their eyes, her relationship with Rupert Washington was just a joke? Through the bus window, she saw the Maserati that had stopped there waiting for her. She remembered Rupert Washington's license plate; this was his car. Elizabeth Black didn't intend to explain further; she would let the facts speak for themselves. "He's waiting for me. I'll go now." Elizabeth Black pointed at Rupert Washington's car and said goodbye to Stacey Charley and Will Tennyson. Stacey Charley and Will Tennyson, seeing the Maserati, were both taken aback. A wild thought crossed their minds: Could Elizabeth Black be telling the truth? Some colleagues who had gotten off the bus earlier saw the luxury car coming to pick someone up and curiously watched. When they saw Elizabeth Black walking towards the car, they gossiped in their hearts. Was the CP of Will Tennyson and Elizabeth Black breaking up before it even formed? The model and color of the car—definitely a successful man's standard. Elizabeth Black, who usually seemed so low-key, had hooked up with a rich, handsome guy? At this moment, the door of the Maserati opened. A pair of slender, delicate legs emerged from the driver's seat... Everyone dispersed, laughing. They had been tricked by Elizabeth Black. It was a woman after all. No husband here. Will Tennyson snorted, "Alright, everyone, go back. It's just a female friend. What's there to see?" Stacey Charley, still wide-eyed, asked, "When did Elizabeth make such a wealthy friend? Why didn't I know about it?" She and Elizabeth Black had been classmates for years, and their family conditions were always similar. Moreover, they knew each other's friends. This Maserati lady, she had never seen before. As for Elizabeth Black, she was already frozen in place when she saw who it was. She thought it was Rupert Washington. She was certain it was Rupert Washington. But it wasn't. The person greeted Elizabeth Black very politely, "Hello, Rupert Washington is my boss. I'm his assistant at the design institute. He mentioned me to you before." "Phoebe Boyle?" Rupert Washington had indeed mentioned her. That day, when she asked him about the airport and Nydia Leighton rumors, he dodged the question and introduced all his work partners, including Phoebe Boyle. "Yes, yes, I'm Phoebe Boyle!" Phoebe Boyle immediately helped her with her things and got into the car. Elizabeth Black felt a knot in her heart and stood still, "Where is Rupert Washington?" She had messaged Rupert Washington to come pick her up, and he hadn't replied for a long time. Then, after promising to come, he sent his assistant instead. If it were any other day, it wouldn't matter, but today she had called him to publicly reveal their relationship. Rupert Washington had stood her up. Elizabeth Black's cheeks puffed up into two small pouches. Phoebe Boyle quickly explained, "Tonight, our Starlight Design Institute won a big project. The boss signed the contract and was immediately pulled away by the project manager to discuss details. He really couldn't get away!" Elizabeth Black was silent for a moment, accepting the explanation temporarily. But her mood remained sour. She got into the car, thinking about her colleagues' reactions when she said her husband was Rupert Washington. She was sullen. Her cheeks were still puffed up. Phoebe Boyle, in the driver's seat, glanced at Elizabeth Black in the rearview mirror. Then, unable to resist, she looked again, and again... Wow, the boss's wife was too cute. This was her first time meeting the boss's wife. She had originally thought that with Rupert Washington's arrogant and flamboyant personality, and his flirtatious eyes, he would like a seductive femme fatale. Who would have thought it was a sweet girl! But, on second thought, the two of them did look good together. Rich young master vs. sweet girl. Perfect match! Elizabeth Black was still sullen, completely unaware that Rupert Washington's assistant was secretly shipping her and her boss. She had also had a bit of alcohol today, and her head was fuzzy. When she got home, she took a shower and went straight to bed. She didn't know how long she had slept, but she vaguely felt someone moving her. First her arms, then her legs, pinching her face and rubbing her ears. Elizabeth Black was rubbed awake. Half asleep, she opened her eyes and saw Rupert Washington staring at her intently. Elizabeth Black was startled and pushed him, "What are you doing...?" She was still upset, but after sleeping, her voice was soft and weak, as was her strength. Rupert Washington had also had a bit of alcohol with the project manager. Hearing her soft, weak voice, he felt more intoxicated than if he had downed a bottle of liquor. He pulled her into his arms. Kissed her. His lips were a little hot. "I heard you're angry with me?" His voice was hoarse. Phoebe Boyle had told him she was angry. Rupert Washington realized he hadn't done well. He came back to make amends right away. Elizabeth Black turned her face away and huffed. Completely harmless. Rupert Washington chuckled. Elizabeth Black ground her teeth, "You're laughing while I'm angry." Rupert Washington nodded, "I was wrong, I apologize." Elizabeth Black had just had a chaotic dream. In the dream, Will Tennyson said, "You and Rupert Washington are a joke." Then Diana Moses appeared, saying, "You're just a stand-in, a pitiful one." She also dreamed of Nydia Leighton. She was truly beautiful, wearing a dress, walking on the red carpet, turning back with a smile that captivated all. ... Elizabeth Black yawned, her mood was terrible. "I'm sleepy." She rolled over and continued to sleep. But Rupert Washington wasn't letting her off. Taking advantage of the alcohol, Rupert Washington started to ignite the fire. Elizabeth Black was silent for a few seconds, then, annoyed, she suddenly sat up. She grabbed Rupert Washington's collar and pinned him to the headboard. Rupert Washington, seeing her so dominant and proactive for the first time, felt a spark in his eyes. He loosened his grip, giving her space to act. Elizabeth Black kissed him. Rupert Washington didn't move, waiting for more. Elizabeth Black kissed him several more times, moving down. Just as Rupert Washington's Adam's apple was bobbing wildly, she leaned in and whispered in his ear. "Call me 'hubby.'" Rupert Washington: "Mm." He interlocked his fingers with hers, moved by the moment. Elizabeth Black's eyes curved into a smile. The next second, a mischievous light appeared in her eyes. "Help me get a sanitary pad." Rupert Washington: "......"
