29. A Time to Wake, A Time to Sleep

The sound of the ringing telephone boring into my brain brought me out of my slumbers with a start. I had that feeling of disorientation one sometime gets on such occasions, not being quite sure where I was, or even what day of the week it was. I literally stumbled from the chair, and walked across to the wall, and lifted the phone from its cradle as though it were a thing on fire. Holding it with just my fingertips, I gingerly held it to my ear. “Robert darling, are you there? Are you alright my darling, you took an age to answer?
