A Little Perk

727 Words
Just as Qin Shu finished speaking, the seductive and sultry sounds blared from the laptop at full volume. The sudden noise immediately drew the attention of everyone nearby—it was impossible not to notice. Shu Lu's face turned crimson as she finally understood what her male colleagues had been referring to. She bit her lip and quickly covered her ears in embarrassment. Yan Qing was horrified. He hurriedly opened the laptop, only to see multiple video windows popping up non-stop. The cacophony of high-pitched and melodious sounds merged together, resembling some sort of twisted symphony. Passersby nearby stopped in their tracks, stunned by what was happening. Was this some sort of unexpected "perk" for the otherwise dull and stressful job fair? Yan Qing continued trying to close the windows, but the faster he closed them, the more they multiplied. Finally, realizing he was fighting a losing battle, he turned to Qin Shu in desperation. "Please, help me close this!" Qin Shu smirked. "It seems Manager Yan's computer skills are lacking. I wonder how you passed your interview in the first place!" "Just close it, please!" Yan Qing was sweating profusely, utterly humiliated, and his eyes were filled with a pleading look. Qin Shu sighed and asked, "So, do you still think my computer skills are only so-so?" "No, they're excellent—truly excellent!" Yan Qing didn’t have the luxury of belittling him any further. Qin Shu shrugged, finally reaching out to turn the laptop back toward him. "With such a vast collection, even I'm envious. Could you perhaps share some of these files?" "Just shut it down, please!" "Alright!" Qin Shu smiled, simply pressing the power button. The laptop shut down, and suddenly, everything was quiet again. The people who had been feeling overheated just moments before finally snapped out of their daze. "Was it really that simple?" Qin Shu chuckled. "Of course. Just cut the power, and the computer stops working. Even a complete i***t knows that, Manager Yan." Yan Qing finally breathed a sigh of relief. "And about the future…" "Don't worry, it was just a one-time program." Seeing Qin Shu now was like seeing a venomous snake, and with all the burning gazes still fixed on him, Yan Qing hastily grabbed his laptop. "I have something urgent to attend to, so I'll be leaving now. You all clean up here!" he said, quickly fleeing the scene. Qin Shu laughed. "I must have underestimated Manager Yan's physical fitness. He runs faster than a rabbit!" Shu Lu, her face still flushed, looked at Qin Shu with a mix of shyness and reproach. Noticing her gaze, Qin Shu smiled at her. "I’ve got quite the collection myself. Maybe we could study them together sometime?" Shu Lu's already red cheeks turned even redder, all the way to her neck. She stomped her foot in frustration. "You pervert!" she exclaimed before turning and running away. The remaining employees looked at Qin Shu in admiration. "Man, you're something else. We can't help but believe you really did spend time at MIT and Harvard!" "Sorry to disappoint you, but I've only graduated high school! No need to overestimate me!" Qin Shu had decided that, since no one believed his claim of studying at MIT and Harvard, he might as well just tell them he only had a high school education. At least it would make him seem more honest. "Watch out, man. Manager Yan may seem refined on the surface, but he's vengeful. If you join HAZ Investments, you’re likely to face some trouble. Plus, he and the general manager go way back—they were classmates." "The general manager? You mean Wei Yanfeng?" "Yes!" "Heh, if I had known, I wouldn't have let him off so easily!" The mention of Wei Yanfeng, who was engaged to Qin Qianshi, left Qin Shu feeling deeply irritated. "Just fill out this form, and you can report to the company tomorrow. The position is urgent!" ... By the time Qin Shu returned home, it was already past six. As he opened the door, the house was eerily quiet, making it seem like Qin Qianshi hadn’t come back yet. But as he stepped into the living room, he heard the sound of running water coming from the bathroom. His heart skipped a beat—Qin Qianshi had already returned and was taking a shower.
