I found myself calling David after interrogating my brother in the hospital. "Hi," I started when he picked me up.
"Sup! Is your brother okay now? "
"Yeah, he’s okay and getting better. I just asked him some questions about what really happened."
"What did he say?" His voice sounds raspy. Forehead furrowing, "Hey, you okay? Are you sick?
"I am." God, I like him being straightforward.
"Oh, I’m so sorry. I knew it was from last night. Definitely sorry," said in a concerned voice.
"If you’re sorry, why don’t you come inside our house and be my nurse?" Cue the eye rolls. I heard him chuckle on the other line. "Now you are making me feel more guilty."
He chuckled again. "Anyway, what did your brother say?"
"He says…he says…I don’t want to talk about it."
