Demetrius needed an entrée to Senator George Tobias to get beyond the tight security. He considered using Amara, taking her out to lunch, then while he was in the office…He needed something better, a sure thing. Then it came to him. He called Amara for lunch.
“How about if I take a raincheck. I planned to skip lunch. I was up on the scale.”
“I wanted to say goodbye. I need to return to Greece today. A business deal in on the verge of collapse.”
“Sorry, is it the real estate deal you told me about?”
“I’ll tell you at lunch. I’ll come by for you. I wanted to say goodbye to Senator Tobias. Is he in today?”
“Yes.”
“Can you transfer this call to him?”
Seconds later Senator Tobias picked up the phone. “Good morning, Demetrius. Amara says you’re leaving town.”
