22 Mary Catherine A few days later Mary Catherine ran into Father Damien when she dropped off some used apparel for St. Michael’s clothing drive. She greeted him and was returning to her car when he called out. “Wait.” She stopped and turned around, a curious look on her face. “Unless you’re in a hurry walk with me. It’s one of God’s beautiful summer days and I’d like to talk with you.” His warm and friendly manner appealed. She smiled, “Okay.” They exchanged small talk until they approached a small city park.
