Evers announced himself to the receptionist and immediately General Horatio Hightower threw open his office door and converged on him. “Good to see you, Evers,” the General said, giving Evers a firm handshake. “Come into my office.”
Evers followed the retired General meticulously groomed in a khaki suit remarkably like his familiar army color. Over six feet tall, the General’s erect stance, silver hair, and mustache contributed to his distinguished appearance despite his spreading waistline. The former head of Pentagon Defense Security, he served as the chief lobbyist for ALESA, the American League for Exports and Security Assistance. Arms dealers, like Skylar, depended upon the General’s army to wage war on Congressional members who threatened to disturb the status quo.
