79 Mary Catherine Mary Catherine canceled her bridge game and rushed to Columbia- Presbyterian Hospital at her sister Kay’s urging. Jane had taken a turn for the worse and had been whisked into surgery. What began as influenza turned into terminal hepatitis requiring a liver transplant. Initially Jane showed excellent progress until a few days later her body began to reject the organ. She became jaundiced, spiked a fever, and began hemorrhaging.
