The investigation.

"Miss Piya Verma!"

"Sir"

"Recently, I've heard this name in a celebrity case. What was the name of that celebrity?"

"Miss Sima Gupta, Sir" Replies the constable to the investigating officer's question.

"Ah! Miss Sima Gupta. Girls with the name Piya are so in trouble nowadays, no?"

"Sir! Both the girl is the same person."

"Oh, really! What a coincidence. A girl went to a celebrity's house to warn her, 'Your life is in danger.' That same girl is in danger now."

"I think he came for Nikita." I reply.

"You think, Miss Piya! You are assuming, and assumption can be wrong. Right, Mr. Ahuja?" He addresses the constable.

"Yes, sir."

"So Miss Piya, you said that someone followed you and entered the room to attack you?"

"Yes"

"Hmmm... From where you were coming?"

"I went to the terrace then went down, from there only."

"Hmm.. Why you went to the terrace?"

"To attend a call."

"Whose call?"

"That's personal. And it's nothing to do with this event." I get irritated.

"Oh, mam got angry. Okay, next question. Why you went downstairs?"

"I saw Jayesh was leaving, so I went to see him."

"Did you see him?"

"No, till I reach there he already left."

"Please note that, Mr. Ahuja."

"Sir! We got a knife in the crime scene." One of their men informs him.

"Knife! Mr. Ahuja... Look killer came well prepared."

"Killer sir?" The constable asks.

"Killer, that attacker. He came intending to kill, but failed. Miss Piya! Be aware. You warn others. That's a good thing, though. So, I am warning you. Your life must be in danger too."

"Sir, it's not about me. I feel Nikita is in danger."

"You feel, Miss Piya! Good. The feelings are good. From feelings, I remember one thing. Mr. Ahuja, did you remember that case? A boy stalks the girl day and night and when he found her alone, he killed her. The reason was the girl rejected him."

"Which one, sir?"

"Ahuja Ji.. You are getting old. Remember that case of the pretty girl just like her (addresses towards me) who rejected that boy. He was a nerd, and the girl was like a supermodel, it was obvious that they weren't any match. But revenge. Ahuja Ji, any small spark can trigger the fire of revenge."

"Really sir, Peoples nowadays getting scarier. For no reason." He replies.

"Hmm.. Miss Piya! Have you rejected someone? What am I asking? You must have, definitely. You must be getting a proposal almost daily. Right?"

"What rubbish." I am furious now.

Is this the way to investigate? In this serious matter, they are having fun. Look, they are laughing.

"Sir!" 

A man enters, and both discussed for a while. Maybe that man got some lead in our case coz the investigating officer peers at me.

The investigating officer with his assistant constable walks to me. The investigating officer asks.

"The assassin followed you from downstairs?"

How many times I have to tell them. They took my statement at least 3 times, then this man asked me again 4 to 5 times.

"Yes" 

"Your friend, with whom you are staying here. When did he tell you about his plan of not staying with you last night?"

"Day before yesterday, he came and asked that can I manage one night here alone."

"Hmmm, that time you two were alone?"

"No, we were in the corridor and lots of people were there."

"You mean that people were around, and anyone can eavesdrop on you two. Right?"

"Not sure, maybe."

"Hmmm... You were the only patient on the entire floor, why?"

"We weren't the only one when Nikita got admitted here. There was a patient in our ward too. But she got discharged yesterday evening."

"Did your boyfriend knew about this before?"

"Sir?"

I glare at him. This is ridiculous. 

"Oh ho, the boy your friend. Did he know about it when he decided to leave you here, alone?"

"No, nobody knows about it. He set the meeting and told me but yesterday just before he left that patient got discharged and we were alone in the ward. But because the meeting was set, and he has lots of work at the office, he has to go."

"Case solve!" He shouts.

All his men stop where they were and gather in front of the investigating officer.

"Case solve? Sir?" Voice echos.

"Yes"

What's happening. He just barely asked me any genuine questions and now shouting that he solved the case. If that so, where is the assassin or the attacker? He didn't even interrogate Jayesh yet. Many things are mysterious till now and this man is celebrating his success.

"But, sir! How?"

"Confuse?... Confused, Mr. Ahuja?"

"Yes, Sir... yes sir.."

The man who came to the room, and they had a discussion came forward. He was wearing formal attire. He has a muscular body, might be a cop.

He says. " The patient next to Nikita was found in critical condition today. Her mother gave the same description of the assassin. The girl was the wife of a big billionaire, unfortunately, her husband died in the accident but she survived and admitted here for treatment. It seems the accident was planed because she got a deadly attack this morning. Maybe someone did for her properties. The investigation is going on now.  All the suspects are interrogated now."

"Look, the same hoodie man went to attack that girl who came here to attack that girl only."

"But sir, if he came to kill that girl, then why he attacked these girls?"

"Good question Ahuja Ji."

"Thank you, sir."

"As per Ahuja Ji asked, the assassin entered the room following this pretty lady. When he saw an empty bed, he got nervous. She locked the room. You did?"

"Yes," I nodded.

"Yes so, she locked the room and assassin wanted to escape. So, he attacked them to get out from there. They might have alarmed everyone no. So eighter he aimed to kill them both or just scare them till he finds the way out."

"But sir, if he came for that girl, he must have come earlier. She got discharged that very evening and he came at night. That doesn't make sense." I interrupt him.

"Point! The assassin came almost every day. He stalks your moves. But couldn't make a move because of your boyfriend."

I glare at him. Then released a deep breath. 

"I mean because of your male friend. Now okay?... But, when he heard that her friend will not be around at night, he made a plan. He stopped stalking and started executing the plan. He waited till her friend to leave. Then he entered the hospital. He saw her, followed her. Entered the room. But bam!!!"

Everyone gets startled.

He continues. "He saw the empty bed. His calculation got wrong. That very day she got discharged. So the case solved."

"Wow... ohh..Grate..." Voice echos in the room.

Everyone applause for him. He showed gratitude. 

Really? Is that the matter? Maybe that's why Nick was safe last time when I prevent the accident. She didn't get admitted to this hospital and was alive. But I have a doubt. If that so, in the first time Jayesh was not at all in the scene. 

"Piya!" Think of the devil, and the devil appears. Jayesh. 

"Oh, you are her friend. Really, you are so muscular, any assassin will fear making a move in front of you." The investigating officer laughs.

This officer is not here for the investigation he is here for the entertainment. 

"Don't leave such a pretty lady alone Mr. World is very cruel, my boy." He says to Jayesh.
