IZZY'S POV
Early next morning, I was woken up by someone jumping up and down on my bed. I could only partially open my eyes but I could clearly see Emerson jumping like she was on a trampoline; she was a morning person and I was the opposite. I didn’t know that this is what I signed up for
“Wake up sleepy head” she squealed in my ears. I pulled a pillow over my head which she forcefully yanked off.
“a little more” I complained like a child but all I got was a strong no.
It was of no use. I couldn't win against her
After a long time of failed sleep attempts, I dragged my body out of bed and headed straight to the bathroom. My stomach was growling loudly, I don’t know the last time I had a proper meal. I dressed up, grabbed some cash, called Emmy and headed out to find breakfast, we would grab some groceries later. We found a good place to eat, one with less commotion and a good set up for relaxing. And silver spoon restaurant checked all the boxes on our list.
We entered and sat just by the door side, almost in isolation but we liked it that way. A young lady with long raven hair approached us. Her smile was radiant and seemed friendly. She seemed to be in her mid-twenties. I presumed she was the waitress
“Good morning, ladies, what can I get for you” she said in a soft voice. I was picturing myself in the uniform she had on, she looked absolutely gorgeous.
“I will have an omlete, steak and coffee please” I said to her with a smile
“ I guess I will have pancakes and coffee” Emerson said and went back to scrolling through her phone
The waitress told us to wait for about minutes and then everything will be ready. Emerson and I continued to talk about random things when suddenly and idea hit me. I thought about working here if at all there was a spot, after all I’ve been handling kitchen duties back in the pack for a long time. After a long chit chat with my wolf-Bella I decided to finally go and ask, it’s been long since we last had a talk, she’s been silent but it was okay, she does that sometimes when she feels overwhelmed.
I was planning to approach her once I was done with breakfast plus, she also seemed busy because of the morning rush hours. After waiting for a few minutes, the breakfast was served, we ate silence, seems like we had exhausted all the gist for the day. Once we were done eating, I cleared the bill and excused myself from the table, I had to find the waitress who had served us maybe she could be of help.
By this time, the place was almost empty, I looked around and spotted her sitting at the other end of the restaurant. I was advancing in her direction when I suddenly collided with someone, hard enough to make me stumble back a bit.
“ouch!!!” I held my head; the person must be so tall because what I hit felt like a chest but my head was throbbing.
I was still holding my head when it hit me that I had not yet apologized for my clumsiness.
“I am…sorrrr….” I said in panic as I raised my eyes to look at the person who was already looking down at me, hands in his pockets and a serious expression written all over his face, for a moment I was lost in his blue eyes. He looked so composed for someone I had just knocked.
Neither of us spoke, we just stared back into each other’s eyes, I could feel my temperature rising and my cheeks burning up. I was wishing the ground to open up and swallow me but I could help but stare back at him.
*Cough cough* a sound came from behind him, bringing me back into reality. His figure was so massive that he effortlessly towered over the man behind him, I didn’t notice him until he coughed. I slowly lowered my gaze and tried to find my words
“I’m so….rry, I wasn’t paying atte…atte..ntion…..I” the words left my mouth unfinished. There was silence and I could feel his gaze burning through my scalp. I was fidgeting and held onto the side of my clothes.
“ Maybe you should next time” he said in an almost cold voice but low and deliberate, I swear I could listen to him speak the whole day. But right now, I had to focus. I nodded my head and looked at him, he smirked and just I stood glued to my feet until I heard Bella in my head.
“Ooh ooh, it’s so hot in here…..?” she asked in a playful voice
“not now Bella” I responded and she just laughed it off.
I looked over at Emerson, of course, was already grinning like a cat who had spotted a canary. She watched the exchange with gleeful suspicion, arms crossed. The guy gave a polite nod and walked off, leaving Emerson staring after him like she’d just seen a plot twist in her favourite show.
“Well, well, well,” Emerson drawled, looping her arm through mine “What was that? You looked like you were auditioning for a rom-com meet-cute.”
“Stop,” I hissed, trying to hide my smile. “It was nothing.”
“Nothing? Please. That was capital-T Tension. The way you froze, the way he looked at you …..girl, I could practically hear violins playing in the background.”
I rolled her eyes, but my blush betrayed me. “You’re ridiculous.” I could feel my face heating up adding to my sweaty palms.
“And you,” Emerson said, wagging a finger, “are clearly smitten. Don’t worry, I’ll help you stalk him later restaurant guy, tall, mysterious, ….. your other mate, We’ll find him.”
“Emmy!” I groaned, but she couldn’t stop laughing. “Can we go just shop?”
“Fine,” Emerson said, feigning innocence. “But if you suddenly start buying dresses instead of sweatpants, I’ll know why.”
We walked over to the waitress, I guess she didn’t see what had just happened and deep down I wanted to be that way. She saw us advancing in her direction and immediately flashed a bright smile.
“Anything I can help you with?” she asked politely.
“No no everything is okay, I just need to talk to you or rather inquire about something” I responded
We talked for a couple of minutes and I learned from her that there was a vacancy, she also told me to check in after a week. I was in supplication that things go my way in that way I wouldn’t spend so much time looking for a job
We left the restaurant with Emerson and looked for a nearby grocery store to pick up groceries and then we proceeded for shopping. We strolled through the busy streets and finally found a gigantic shopping mall called glamour in paradise, it looked it was straight out of heaven. We were checked by the security and proceeded to enter.
