LUCIAN’S POV
“What the hell happened here?” I asked the employee who was trembling before my eyes, I knew my presence suffocated her but she had to be held accountable for her actions.
“I’m sorry your highness, it was all my fault” she responded, I could see her sweating profusely but that wasn’t going to save her.
“that’s not what I asked” I shouted this time; I was on the verge of slapping her and shaking some sense into her head
Early this morning, a staff had called me about her bad conduct and exploitation of clients, I had to come all the way here to resolve this matter. After my father had worked so hard to accumulate this wealth, and legacy, I couldn’t let anyone destroy that because of their pride.
“you’re fired” I said at last and turned to leave when suddenly someone clung onto my leg
“It was just a clumsy mistake your highness” the employee before me said.
“Did she just say mistake?” maybe my ears were playing tricks.
I looked down at her with disgust. I don’t usually treat my employees like this, but her, she had crossed the line, she would’ve never crossed, maybe she didn’t know who she was messing with
“don’t make me repeat my…..” the words were still coming out of my mouth when I perceived a strong scent. It was like a mix of blooming flowers, with vanilla and coconuts, it was so fresh and intoxicating. But it was only faint, like the person was here but not so near at the same time. It was calling to me.
My wolf was clawing and asking me to surface but I denied him control. He was restless and so was I, it’s the least thing I expected to happen to me in this lifetime. I was trying so hard to resist the pull to where the scent was coming from but it only made me feel so uncomfortable.
My best friend, Clinton who was also my beta must have noticed how my face was changing and became concerned
“Are you okay Luci?” I had his voice in my head
“Yes I’m okay” I responded and decided to see where the scent was coming from.
I let my wolf surge and help with the searching. The door leading to the dining area of the restaurant closed behind and us. I searched the whole place and then I saw her. My eyes couldn’t look away even when I wanted to. She was with someone else assuming her friend and they were having breakfast.
My wolf was becoming wild and urging me to go over and mark her mine, this is the first time he’s been active after a long period of time.
He wanted his mate!!!
Our mate!!!!
I stood there looking at her, observing each move she made gracefully. She was effortlessly beautiful; her presence made the entire room lively. Then I saw her coming towards my direction, I was excited for a moment thinking she was coming to me but I realised that her eyes were looking in a different direction.
I followed her eyes and she was looking at the waitress in the corner across the restaurant.
“You can’t let her go” my wolf was becoming more violet each second, it was like he was high on some kind of drug, even therapy couldn’t save him.
I moved a bit from where I was standing observing my little cute human, I wanted to run into her intentionally maybe she would recognize me then and that’s what I did exactly. She wasn’t looking when I stood directly in her way, hands in my pockets and very composed.
Just as I expected, she hit her forehead onto my chest, the contact alone gave me butterflies, a spark was there, I could feel it, I couldn’t deny it. I was fighting so hard not to anything stupid at this moment. But was she feeling the connection as well?
she must have been hurt because she held her head for a long time and I was becoming concerned.
My wolf was forcing me to at least touch her and ask if she was okay. I didn’t want to hurt her. I wanted to win her and make a good impression for my precious mate. She raised her head slowly and opened her mouth to say something
“Is this the part? where we skip the introductions and kiss?” I thought to myself. I was desperately hoping that it’s something along those lines. But I was disappointed
“I’m sorry I wasn’t paying attention” she said, looking straight into my eyes. That’s not what I wanted to hear. I stared at her intently for a long time and came to conclude she didn’t recognize me. But why? My wolf was begging me to tell her who I am but that’s not how it works, she should be able to recognize and accept me.
Her eyes were beautiful and fierce, I could stare at them the whole day, the kind of eyes that burn your whole existence without a word, just by looks. Every feature on her face was in perfect harmony and yet so delicate, nothing could compare to her beauty.
Her scent could heal all my scars from the past, present and future ones I haven’t seen or known, so refreshing and intoxicating, one that blows your mind. Everything on her was so perfect. From head to bottom.
An epitome of beauty
I don’t know how long I stared, but it was long enough for my beta, Clinton, who was behind me to cough a bit bringing me back to reality. I focused on the facts at hand right now, she didn’t recognise me. It didn’t matter how much I was yearning for her; I wasn’t going to tell her who I am
The thought alone, disturbed my head, my moods went down as quickly as they went up when I perceived her sweet scent.
“Maybe you should next time” I smirked at her as I responded. I looked at her one more time, I wanted to get more of her beauty, before I nodded briefly and walked past her with Clinton following behind me.
I walked hastily and reached the parking lot; I was burning up in disappointment and frustration. My wolf was also not helping, he was cursing me and criticizing me for staying quiet so I shut him down. He was being a nuisance.
I kicked the tyres of my car like I was holding a grudge against them and then held my head in frustration. It was driving me crazy. After all these years I’ve been waiting for my mate, I had tried every possible way to find her and when I finally did, she couldn’t even recognize!!
What kind of joke was this? Was the moon goddess trying to play some kind of game with me?
“How could she not……” I declared in confusion. I could tell that Clinton was looking at me, and wondering what I was talking about.
“Ahmm…is everything okay Luci?” he asked as he came closer to my side.
I looked at him with a dangerous eye, he stepped backward a bit and then stood still. I walked over to him and placed my hands on both his shoulders. He looked at me surprised by my actions, his eyes widened and popping out. We rarely act casual in public spaces
“Wha..t are you…doing ?” he asked with visible discomfort and confusion.
“How could she not recognize me?” I asked him like he knew the answer to my question. I was shaking him violently like he had a precious gem I wanted to extract from him.
“She?...who?...she1 or she2….” He asked back not so sure who I was referring to. The employee I had just fired or the woman I collided with at the restaurant?
I realised my posture with him and quickly let him go then turned my back against him
“she2” I responded. He just laughed at me. If he continued I was going to snap his neck in the next few seconds.
“I’m sorry to ask, but was she supposed to?” he asked amidst his annoying laughter. I looked at him and he quickly shut his mouth like he knew what I was about to do
“Why would she….?” He tried to ask but I didn’t let him.
“ SHE’S MY MATE YOU…..….” He was still blabbering when I cut him off, I just realised now that I had used my alpha voice on him. His jaw dropped; it was almost sweeping the ground.
Shit!!!! What had I just done? Now he was not going to keep quiet until I seal his lips with glue.
“Luci!!!” he gasped in disbelief, eyes bulging out their sockets
“Your highness or alpha, we’re in public, remember?” I declared
“Sorry, alpha” “should we send a search party for her?” “Should I just kidnap her or should I….? he said breathlessly without taking any break
“NO” “you shouldn’t do anything” I responded in firm voice “ you should shut up and drive me out of here” I added at got into the back of the car
“Alright alright Luci…sorry alpha” he said and got into the driver’s seat.
Clinton was restlessly questioning me about the lady from the restaurant. I didn’t even know her name, how was I supposed to find her now?
How was I supposed to find my mate!
But for the few minutes she stood in front of me, I could tell that even though she looked delicate and timid, she had a strong wolf, my wolf could also tell that she was stronger than an average female wolf, it just didn’t make sense that she couldn’t tell I was her mate.
“I must find her” I thought to myself. I didn’t know how, when or where but it was my responsibility to find her. It doesn’t matter if she will recognize me then or not, she was mine now. The moment I stared into her soul, she became mine, mine and mine alone.
She would know it too, very soon. And when that time comes I will claim her as my own.
I was going to make her mine.
Clinton drove me back to my house. After that restaurant scene, I wasn’t in the mood to do anything else. I just wanted to rest and clear off my mind; I was also not in the moods to see anyone at this time. Anything else could wait. I just wanted my precious mate, I frantically wanted to hold her in my arms, I wanted to protect her from anything or anyone
The thought of another man looking at her or touching her was driving me insane, she was supposed to be with me right now,
And I swear by the moon goddess
I will find her!!!!!
