LEAVING HOME

IZZY'S POV PRESENT TIME. I clenched my chest in pain, I felt suffocated by the feeling that was stirred inside me. After all this time my mother hadn’t found a place in her heart to forgive me no matter how much I tried to prove my worth, it was hopeless after all. I looked at my father, looked at me with pitiful eyes, I knew he wished things could be different, but my mom was his mate and it made sense why he sided with her most of the times. “She loves you; she will come around someday, just try to understand her” my father said before taking the direction which my mother had just taken. I sat quietly in the enormous meeting arena and allowed my thoughts wander off, I asked myself how life would have been if that day didn’t happen, I tried to push away the pain and thought about the happy moments we shared as a family and with Luke which made me chuckle a little. After what felt like hours, I gathered myself to head to my quarters to retire from the day. It’s been long since I last slept in the family house and I wasn’t planning to return any time soon, every place I laid my eyes on reminded me of my brother. As I was heading out, I could hear my mother’s sobs and her muffled murmurs. I decided to stop and eavesdrop. “I can’t look at her face love, she reminds me of him” she murmured admits her sobs “I can’t, I can’t” she added and my father was trying his best to comfort her “Everything will be okay my love” he responded in a heavy voice. I listened quietly as tears streamed down my face. I never wished to cause my mother such agony, I had traded our happiness, love and bond for some teenage fun. I blamed myself for everything and I didn’t want to see her like that, even if it meant walking away, I would gladly do so. My father will be fine with his mate by his side. It was that moment I decided that I needed to leave the pack for some time even though I wasn’t sure of where I was heading to and I was not planning to inform my parents. Once I reached my quarters which were just behind the pack house, I sat quietly on my bed for a few minutes then picked up my phone and called Emerson, I wanted to see her tomorrow, perhaps she could help. I packed my bags that night and made sure I had everything I needed for the new start. Lucky for me I had some savings with me and I would use that to rent out a place once I left the pack and then look for a job later on when I have fully settled. The following day, I heard a knock on my door. It was still very early and I wondered who it could be. I lazily got out of my bed and headed towards the door, I peeked before opening and I saw Emerson standing there with a wide smile, I opened the door and let her in. “GOOD MORNING!!! SLEEPING BEAUTY” she yelled. “I come bearing goodies………” she added. “Too much energy for such a morning, are you high?” I responded back as I tried to cover myself again. She must have noticed the bags which were in the corner of my room and yanked my blanket off “We have a trip??” she asked “Not we" "I". She looked at me witha seroius face I sat down, held her fragile hand in mine. She seemed a bit worried, her eyes were watery. I explained everything to her, she seemed to understand my situation and promised to help me move out of the pack secretly. I checked under my pillow and gave her a letter sealed in the envelope to pass onto my parents once I left the pack. We had breakfast which she had prepared before coming here. I loved, Emerson like she was a sister to me, she was always light in darkness, and it made my heart ache that I had to leave her behind. She had also promised to help me with moving my things without anyone getting suspicious, and to help me find a place where to stay once for a meantime At noon I went to the pack kitchen and attended to my duties, I was so glad and at peace that no one dared mention the Michael incident, finally people had learnt to mind their business. Once I was done, I paid one last visit to my former bedroom. I rummaged through my belongings and picked out our family portrait we took back in the day. This was one of the last happy memories I had of my family. I secretly snuck into Luke’s bedroom, my mother made sure that it was kept intact and clean. My eyes landed on the toy cabinet in the corner, I went over and picked one of his favourite toys and a small smile crept on my lips, I was going to put it down but a sudden thought came me, I took it with me instead, it was a small red sport toy car. I left the house and gave one final look. “I will miss you” I said with in a low heavy voice and felt a tear escaping my eyes, I didn’t know how long it was going to take me to come back to this place but I only wished the best for my parents, Emerson and the whole pack. I had hope that by the time I return I will be worthy of a daughter they deserve, a daughter my mom always wished for. We left the pack territories around evening time, this time most of the pack members are in for training so it was perfect for snaeking out . I looked out of the car window as I saw the pack forest disappearing into the distance, I don’t know how Emerson found driver but I was grateful she did and as promised she kept me company throughout my journey. Her parents always gave her freedom, so moving in and out of the pack was never a problem unlike me. “Promise me that you will okay and happy, most importantly come back home someday” she said to me as she pouted her lips like a baby. “I promise” I replied back with a small smile. We drove a long distance away from my pack and reached our destination at night. The city lights looked so beautiful. It was my first time to be so far away from home. Over the years our world had embraced civilisation while preserving culture and tradition. During day, the werewolves lived normal lives, working in different areas, companies and all sorts of work, at night some would return to their respective packs or remain in the city but would be required to report back to their packs for gatherings, ceremonies, different functions and emergencies. We came to stop at what looked like an apartment and I quickly turned my eyes towards Emerson who had a huge smile plastered on her lips. There was a huge werewolf head at the entrance and I guessed it must be owned by a strong alpha from one of the packs. No ordinary wolf
