Kael
The sound of my alarm going off jolted me awake.
I groaned as I felt around the bed for the irritating device
I picked it up and silenced the irritating noise.
I stretched, feeling my entire body scream in a delicious ache. I was completely spent.
The memories of last night assaulted my mind and I quickly.
I met my mate at a bar last night. What were the odds that coming back here would result in meeting my destined mate.
looked around for her but she appeared to have left. Her clothes were gone and so were her shoes.
I couldn't even sense her in the room anymore.
I sat up, feeling a wave of loneliness envelop me, her absence making a boring hole in my chest. Which was odd.
Stuff like this never happened to me.
Last night was…exceptional.
The s*x, her body, the way she'd touched me, craved me. It was the best s*x I had ever had. Calling it s*x was an insult, it was a spiritual exchange. One I wanted to expirience again and again and again.
We'd talked for a while but it didn't last because the attraction had overpowered us every time we tried to talk.
I hadn't even gotten her name.
I stood up from my bed, hoping maybe she went out for a second and was going to come back eventually.
But even as the thought crossed my mind, I knew it wasn't plausible.
I scanned the room in case she left a note with her name and number.
I came up with nothing…
I sighed.
Maybe I could trace her back home.
I picked up the landline and called the front desk.
“Hello?” A male voice answered.
“Hello, this is Mr Martin, I'm calling to inquire about a young woman with black hair, she came with me to the hotel last night. Have you seen her?’
“Oh, yes, Mr Martin. I saw her leaving an hour and a half ago. Is something wrong?”
He asked, eager to please.
“Do you have any idea where she could have gone?” I asked.
“I'm sorry sir but that's beyond our jurisdiction.”
I sighed.
“That's fine. I'm checking out but if she comes back, make sure to call me, I'll be dropping my details.”
“Sure thing, sir.”
I hung up immediately and hurried to the shower.
When I get to the pack house, I'll get the guards to find her.
Guards. It had been a long time since I had those.
Five years ago, I had moved out of my father's pack after a huge fight, I had even denounced my throne and now I was back to take back that throne and assume my position as Alpha.
I wasn't particularly happy about it but I had no choice. I had to. It was the only way I could apologize to my father for not being at his funeral or not coming to see him before he died.
The guilt crept up onto my throat but I ignored it.

I made my way out of the hotel with my tiny suitcase and called for a cab.
I wasn't interested in any grand welcome and wanted to slip into the pack house and come out when it was time for the coronation.
Unfortunately my plan didn't quite work as there were already a bunch of people around.
As I stepped into the gate of the pack house, I was greeted with beautiful decorations for the coronation, silver streamers, red velvet drapes, and glowing lanterns lining the path. Wolves bowed as I walked past, their eyes filled with curiosity and awe.
As I got to the entrance of the main building of the pack house, I overhead yelling from inside.
The voices got louder.
I frowned as I got closer
“I didn't do it, I swear. Let me explain!”
I froze when I heard that voice.
I knew that voice. The owner had screamed my name all night last night.
Seconds later, she was thrown into my arms.
I captured easily holding onto her tightly.
Her familiar scent assaulted my senses.
Talk about having a wish that comes true.
“We have to stop meeting like this, mate,” I said and her eyes widened at my words.
“You,” her lips parted.
“Yes, it's me.” I smiled.
“And forget about your pay check for this month!” A familiar voice yelled.
I glanced up to find my half brother standing at the doorway, eyes wide, jaw slack.
“Your majesty,” The guards bowed and the woman on my arms glanced at them in shock.
“Your majesty,” she whispered in confusion.
“Kael, you're back.” Dax finally found his voice, bowing as he saw me.
“Forget the formalities, brother. What is going on here?” I asked, my voice hard.
“I'm sorry. I didn't realize you'd be here so early. That woman right there is a thief and I was just firing her.”
“Yes, she is.” Another woman appeared beside him.
“Is that so?” I asked, my eyes fixed
“I didn't,” My mate said, her eyes filled with misery. I didn't like that at all.
“Well, you heard her. She didn't.”
I could feel she was telling the truth.
“But we have proof." Dax said.
“Yes,” the woman beside her spoke.
Her voice was starting to get on my nerves. I ignored the urge to silence her.
Whoever she was, she seemed important to my brother and I wouldn't want to disrespect anyone just yet.
“Well, then. Let's hear it “
“She stole my fiance's shoes,” Dax said.”She is also a horrible maid. Right, Agatha?” He looked towards an older lady for confirmation. I recognized her as the head maid.
“I…” she started but then thought about it and nodded.
“Alright then. Since she is such a horrible maid and stole from you, I guess we have no choice but to fire her…”
“Exactly!” Dax said
“What's your name?” I whispered in her ears.
“Aria ,”
“Alright, Aria . I hereby relieve you of your future as a maid in the pack house.”
“But…” she started to complain but I stopped her.
“You'll live in the palace until I figure out a better job for you,” I added, eliciting a gasp from the pack.
“What?” Everyone in the pack gasped.
“And as for you Dax, forget about the Beta position. You are hereby suspended until we find out the truth.”
