Chapter 5: Searching

" This is a nice house " Nik spoke breaking the silence. " hmm not quite " Samuel mumbled. " This is the nineteenth house you have said that about " Nicklaus spoke frustrated. " I just " Samuel sighed. " Just what mate? I promise this house is probably the best one on the list and I know the pricing is not the problem it's only two hundred gold pieces and your only paying half of that " He exclaimed. " Alright boys are we buying this house today or? " the realtor asked. " We'll take it " Nik spoke as Samuel remained silent. " Very well, shall we go over the paperwork then? " The realtor smiled. " We shall, come on brother " Nik faked a smile to Sam giving emphasis on the " Brother ". Samuel followed them into the big house, He observed the wall murals and old painting covered in dust and cobwebs on the walls. The dining hall was quite exquisite. He toured the house up and down before returning to the living area, with a few adjustments this place will be how he imagined. Nicklaus and his new women Emily could have the east wing of the house and he would have the west, and of course they would share the common areas.

 He then walked outside towards the back. There was a garden with a large fountain in the middle with two angels like statues. " It's beautiful, just needs some tender love and care " Nik spoke interrupting Sam's thoughts. " Perhaps, you are right " Samuel shook his head " I need to stop being so stubborn " Nicklaus placed his hand on his friends shoulder smiling " Your lucky you have me " " You’re the only one who has been there since we were children, You are way more than a friend, You really are my brother " Sam smiled back. " Hello gentlemen " a hooded figure appeared. " Who are you " Samuel spoke now in a defensive stance. " Relax " She spoke soft taking down her hood. " Love " Nik rushed to her side. " Oh, it's you, I'm sorry what was your name again " Samuel asked nervously. " I'm Emily " she smiled teeth glistening. " Did I accidentally run into you the other day; you were with some girls " Emily looked at Nik then back at him. She gasped remembering the events with her majesty's dress hunt. " Apples and Cinnamon " she whispered. " The lady I accidentally fell on top of said the same thing, what exactly does that mean " he chuckled. " I'm sorry I've said to much, but my lady will be able to explain to you at the ball " She smiled cautiously. " When is the ball my love " Nik asked as he kissed her cheek. " It will be in a few weeks; my lady's parents haven't made invitations yet but as soon as they are made you two will be the first to know " she smiled again. " I will leave you two to your privacy " Sam nodded " I have some cleaning and unpacking to do " he smiled again " It was nice seeing you again Emily "

I had not slept in days; All I could smell was him. He filled my every thought, his smell still haunting me as if I were in the same room as him. I sighed; I had every guard I could spare looking for him. I had to find him before Nathaniel, or his men did. If any harm shall come to my mate, I would make them all pay assuming his death would not weaken me. " Ms. " One of my guards called. " Yes Lance? " " My men have searched everywhere, we used your gown from that day, we simply cannot find the scent that matches it I'm sorry " he bowed. " Well then, see to it my parent's send out invitations to everyone in Bretagne " Haven ordered. " Yes, your majesty " Lance spoke leaving her study. Haven continued to read over paperwork trying her best to focus on anything but her mate.

 * KNOCK KNOCK * " You may enter " she spoke firmly. " Well what do we have here " a familiar voice came from behind. " Gabriel " she smiled " Sister it's been far too long " He spoke embracing her. " It has indeed, I've missed you. " she smiled looking him up and down. " You've grown a foot taller than me since we see one another last " Not so little anymore " he teased. " You are still only sixteen and I could still take you " she spoke playful nudging him. " I have a few surprises up my sleeve you know " he nudged her back. " I heard a rumor that you found your mate " his tone shifting to a more serious one. " Yes, unfortunately " she said with sad eyes. " Why so glim " he asked. " Look, as you know I am already betrothed to Nathaniel " " And your point " he chuckled. " He has threatened my mate’s life, but it doesn't matter, he is human " Gabriel's eyes widened. " Your mates’ mortal " " Yes " she spoke softly. " Well that's not too bad, at least he isn't a warlock, pixie, fairy, werewolf or even a troll " he teased. " It's still forbidden " she spoke eyes pleading. " Sister, he can be changed I'm sure mother and father would accept " " If that were only possible, I'm not like you brother, I am the eldest. I have duties and responsibilities to my people. I have to marry a lord or a prince " her voice filled with sorrow. " Once your queen you could change that stupid law " he spoke grasping his sister's cheek. " Nathaniel would still have his heart on a silver platter " she grimaced. " But enough about my problems, what brings you back to France " " Well Spain got rather boring, but I brought back my mate " Haven's eyes widened " You found your mate, but your still so young " she spoke concerned. " Well it does happen sometimes you know " he furrowed his brow. " I'm just concerned that mother and father will not accept her " " And why is that? " she questioned. " She is a hybrid " he answered. " Well, I think they should accept and welcome her with open arms " Haven smiled. " Let's hope it goes that way tonight at dinner " he smiled.
