Chapter 12: Haven and Samuel

Samuel had no idea what had come over him, but he felt like he could not move. He was completely memorized by the beauty standing feet away from him. " Well are you going to go to her mate or stand there like a daft dimbo " Nicklaus chuckled pushing Samuel to walk forward. He slowly walked up to her as Nik and Emily disappeared elsewhere. " Monsieur " she smiled. Even the way she spoke made his heart slam out of his chest. " Queen " he bowed. This brought laughter to his ears which also left him confused. " Please, you need not bow to me Samuel " she chuckled some more. " But it is rude your grace " he furrowed his brow. She continued to laugh some more " you may call me Haven " she whispered. All eyes were on them now more particular Nathaniel's eyes. Samuel noticed him eyeing them the moment he walked up to her. " It seems everyone is staring at us " he blinked at her and back to all the eyes in the room. " Well then shall we give them a reason to stare " she smiled holding her hand out and tilting her head slightly. He took her hand and they proceeded to the middle of the dance floor. " is he human " Haven could hear the whispers around them, though she payed them no mind. The piano and violins harmonized a beautiful tune as they gracefully spun around on the dance floor. Her blue eyes never leaving his hazel ones. " So, Samuel, do you normally run over pretty girls in the market " she smiled as they continued to dance. He chuckled " No I'm afraid not and even if I have bumped into someone it most certainly wasn't a queen as beautiful as you " His eyes widened when he realized what he had said " I - I'm sorry I don't know what has come over me " " shh " she whispered in his ear. " It's ok, no need to be shy with me " she cooed before spinning. 

The music began to slow, and all eyes had left them accept Nathaniel's. He only watched to ensure his queen's mate was not a threat to anyone. " May I ask why the dark hair man with green eyes keeps staring at you " " Oh " she smiled " That is Nathaniel, he is king " Samuel mouth formed a O as if he had touched something that didn't belong to him. " Perhaps I should be more respectful in being close to you " " You have no reason to worry about Nathaniel, he won't do anything to you. Haven could hear Nathaniel chuckling with amusement whereas Samuel did not notice seeing as he was across the room from him. " So how come if your queen I have never heard of you before " he questioned hoping he would finally get the answer he was looking for. " That's rather complicated, I guess you can say your world and mine merely just co-exist " she frowned. " Do you believe in supernatural's " she smiled. " What like fairies and pixy dust. " This caused Haven to smile and giggle a bit. " Well not children story stuff although there are fairies all around you, you just can't see them " she spoke ever so soft in his ear causing him to shiver. Haven inhaled his scent it was practically intoxicating to her. She wanted more than anything to Mark him and make her claim so none of these bloodlust morons could touch him. " What about witches and warlocks, maybe even Werewolves and Vampires " she twirled again raising her brow before coming back in close to his chest. Samuel swallowed hard being so close to her seemed to feel painful because he wanted to do so many more things then just dance. " I mean I have heard stories about witches and warlocks, but I just assumed it was all poppycock " his face serious and voice low. She smiled and then sighed " I'm afraid I have to go take care of some things but feel free to roam and get something to eat " She curtsied and walked away leaving Samuel even more curious about her. 

Haven approached her mother and father as they walked in " Mother? Father? what are you doing here? " her face confused but nothing prepared you for who was here. " Damien? " " Hello sister " his voice low. Damien was her father's bastard child from when he had affairs behind mothers back. He was vampire and lycanthrope a pureblood hybrid. His hair a chocolate brown and his eyes a piercing blue. He was a few years older than me and he stood about 6ft making me look like an imp to him. " What are you doing here? " " My troops and I have been patrolling the boarders, I found something that you may be interested in " he spoke handing me a paper. It was a threat to my rule. My eyes wondered to Nathaniel gesturing him to come before I could even blink, he was next to me. " Who on earth would be so ignorant to threaten one of the strongest vampire covenants " he scoffed. " We don't know that's why we need all guards and as many soldiers as possible to train and be prepared for anything " Damien spoke seriously. " Well you are the leader of the guards do what you see fit to protect our people the last thing we need is a blood bath of mortals and immortals alike " she answered quickly and concerned. " By the way who was that mortal you were dancing with " mother asked. My facial expression froze, and my body grew stiff. They could not find out now especially since they were still on the council and still had say in what laws were passed. " He is just a guest and he was entertaining me " I spoke coldly hoping she would get the hint and back off. " Now if I may be excused, I have guessed that need attended to " I half smiled. They bowed and proceeded back to their rooms; I however had my mind elsewhere. " Haven " Nathaniel grabbed my arm. " Nathaniel" I spoke harshly eyeing his grip around me. " We need to tread carefully, no can find out he is your mate " She rolled her eyes. " Haven, I'm serious, you know what they will do to him " My heart felt sudden pain as I turned back to Samuel who was still watching me with those eyes. " I will make sure he is safe, and he is my responsibility not yours " she sneered. " He may be your responsibility but we took vows never forget a threat to the queen is a threat to me " he cautioned " I care for you whether you choose to believe it or not " he spewed. All I could do is look back at him and sigh. " I will do everything in my power to protect you and our people " I touched his face. " you need not worry about me " I finished before turning around and walking off to find my mate.
