CHAPTER FIVE

1594 Words
Meliorn’s POV "So she really is your mate?" Logan asked me. We were in his library at his home and he was creating a portal. Just three days ago I wanted to get back to Idris as soon as possible. But now I had found my mate and I wanted to spend as much time with her as possible. Unfortunately, this was not possible at the moment because I urgently needed to check the situation at home. In the meantime Gregor could have done God knows what or spread more lies about me. Maybe he managed to get more followers who believe him that I killed my own father. I also had to look after my mother and my sister. My wolf Atlas was also protesting the whole time. He didn't want to be separated from Layla indefinitely. My head was still aching after spending hours assuring him that we'll be back here and connecting with Layla soon. "Yes she is". I answered. "Hmm. A human. I don't think it's ever happened that mortals and beings from the magical world mate with each other. That is extremely strange. It's like a dog and a cat mating." Logan thought. "I know. But somehow I could sense that she is not a normal mortal. I could tell from her aura and scent that she's part werewolf and something else," I explained to him. "Yes I know what you mean. At first I thought I was imagining it but when I saw her at the club I could tell that she had magic in her. She appears to be part witch. But it was so faint that I wasn't sure. Anyway, she doesn't seem to have ever used her powers otherwise she'd be more obvious as a witch -even if not full-blooded," Logan confirmed my theory that Layla's other half is a witch creature. And she really didn't seem to know anything about any of this when she has never used her powers until now. It just didn't make sense that she wouldn't know about her werewolf side since she should have her wolf by now. After all, it had been month since her eighteenth birthday. "Anyway. I don't care what species she is or what rank she is. She is my gift that the moon goddess gave me. I just don't know how to explain all this to her. About magical beings and being one and Idris and mates." I tried not to panic. "Everything in due time. Now first you come back to Idris and see how the situation is there. As soon as you were able to sort everything out there, you come back here and sort things out with Layla," Logan tried to bring some order into my current chaos. “The portal is almost ready. Give me a few more minutes,” he said, continuing to read spells from a thick book. Shortly thereafter, a bluish-black shimmering, oval-shaped opening formed in the room. The portal. This time it didn't suck anyone in uncontrollably as there is a warlock present who maintains control of the portal. "So it's done. Best try to land in your room. Concentrate and visualize it in your head as you step through it. Make sure nothing goes wrong,” Logan instructed me. "Can you do me a favor and keep an eye on Layla while I'm gone?" I asked him. "Yes, I can manage that," he promised. "Okay, take care. We'll see each other again soon," I said goodbye. "Hopefully! Take care and see you soon,” he said as I set foot into the portal and shortly thereafter disappeared. ******* I was a little dizzy but finally I ended up in my chamber. The portal disappeared after a few seconds. Logan had closed it as a precaution. It would become uncontrollable again if it was open for too long. “I already miss our mate.” Atlas complained in my head. I sighed. “I know buddy. I feel the same way. We'll see her again soon.” I left my room and strolled through the castle until I arrived on the floor where my sister's room was. I knocked on her door. I prayed that Rowen wasn't with her right now and God knows what was doing with her. It was a little weird at first and it took some getting used to when my best friend Rowen, of all people, turned out to be my sister's mate, but I had come to terms with it in the meantime. The main thing is that both were happy. Reyna opened the door and fell around my neck. "Where have you been? You just disappeared for a good three days!” she cried. "Shh, not so loud. Can I come in?” She let me in and I sat down on her sofa. "Where's Rowen?" I asked her. "He's doing something with his brothers. But now tell me. Where were you?” she repeated. I sighed. "It's a long story, but here it comes. There was out of nowhere a portal in my room. Some witch or warlock has gained access there and created it there. It had sucked me in almost immediately uncontrollably when I entered my room," I began to tell. "Oh my god. seriously? And where did you land then?" she asked me with concern in her voice. "In New York City," I said bluntly. "What? You landed in the mortal world?" she exclaimed excitedly. "Yes, but it could have been worse. Luckily it was just the human world and in New York I was at least reasonably familiar because we were often there with our parents. The question is who just comes to my room and opens a portal there,” I said dryly. "Hmm, uncle Gregor obviously has something to do with it. Do you think he made a witch or a warlock to open this portal with the intention of getting you into it uncontrollably and drifting through the big nothing ?" Reyna came up with the same thoughts as me. Because if someone gets into a portal that is not under the control of a witch's being, you either get lost in the big nothing or if someone else has passed through beforehand, you end up in the same place as the person who previously went through. It was suspicious that I ended up in a real place. Could someone have gone through before? If so who? “Yes, most likely Gregor has something to do with it. However, I don't know why I ended up in New York City, Manhattan of all places. Anyway, I found Logan Halse there, our parents' warlock friend, so that he would open a portal back to Idris for me. After I told him what happened here with...our father and the portal, he was also convinced that Gregor was responsible for father's death. He also believes that he has someone from the wich realm who works for him and suspects that it could be Darius Hubble,” I told her. Reyna went pale. "What's wrong ?" I asked her. "I've seen Gregor more often with this dark warlock Darius Hubbel lately. And Darius always had his creepy mate Cortana with him in tow. I'm telling you. Something is wrong with her. She radiates something totally uncanny. She worries me even more than Gregor and Darius together. She is said to be a shapeshifter. She can take the form of any person. And those eyes. They are beautiful but also totally creepy. As if this amethyst-colored irises can look deep into your soul," she told me. "Hmm okay, we have to keep an eye on them all. Has anything else happened during my absence?" I asked my sister. "No not really. Only that Gregor now seems to have more people on his side who think you're responsible for father's death. But unfortunately that was foreseeable. Also, something is wrong with mother," she said. "What do you mean?" I asked her worried. "I don't know. She's kind of not herself lately. She's kind of passive and totally cold," she explained. "Father's death still has to bother her a lot," I said worried. "Yes probably," she agreed. Suddenly Rowen came into the room. "Meliorn, oh my God, luckily you're back. Where have you been in the last three days? We were worried!" he said, whereupon we hugged. Rowen was my best friend from an early age. We grew up together. I don't know what I would do without him. He was about the size of me, more athletic, not conspicuously muscular and had elongated chestnut hair and green eyes. After telling him the same thing as Reyna, I burst out with the next bomb. "I found my companion." "What? In New York City? Is she a mortal?" both asked in shock. "I'm afraid it's a little more complicated. She seems to have grown up with humans, but Logan and I could see that she is partly a werewolf and partly a witch. I guess she doesn't know anything about it," I explained. "That's awesome. I'm happy for you. Even if the situation is not so ideal when she grew up with humans," Rowen said. Before one of us could say anything else, there was a knock on the door. Reyna opened the door and our mother stood there. But something was wrong. As Reyna said, she looked cold and distant. Her aura radiated something strange and it lacked the loving warmth that otherwise always emanated from her.
