The video ends and the room goes completely dark for a second before the fluorescent lights come on. I’m sobbing. I drag a hand over my nose, nothing graceful about the way I’m balling my eyes out now.
Lukas gets on one knee before me. He takes my hands in his, cleaning off my tears with the other. I lean into his palm cradling my cheek.
“I…I literally have no words. You’ve left me speechless…”
He said he had fallen in love with me in just a matter of days. That he could die while trying to protect me.
This should be normal for mates, but under our circumstances, it’s not. There is a reason he held back this long. A reason we haven’t addressed.
