"Are you ever going to tell me what your dad wanted with me?" I asked casually with my eyes on the ceiling as Aiden played with my hair. I was bent on getting the answers I deserved, considering I had been dragged into their crossfire not too long ago.
We were laying on my bed, my head on top of his chest and him braced against the headboard.
A grin I was all too familiar with crossed his face. " Well, are you ever going to tell me what you were doing at that parking garage?"
What was the point of asking him anything these days?
We both stared at each other expectantly, waiting for the other to speak. After it was obvious he had no intention of speaking, I rolled my eyes at him. It seemed as if we both had secrets we would rather stay hidden.
"I asked first." I stared stubbornly at him, with my bottom lip stuck out.
He ignored my complaint. "Well, since you won't tell me about your adventures, I don't have to answer either. However, I will answer one question that has no relevance to either of our questions."
Was he serious?
Then, I remembered something that I had always wanted to ask him.
"How do you know Matt?"
I felt his shoulder move as he shrugged. "We were acquaintances during high school."
I raised an eyebrow. He was definitely withholding something. Maybe if I prodded a bit...
"So I take it you were popular during high school, right?"
He snorted loudly. "No. Those morons weren't worth my time."
"Well, did you have any other friends?"
"Listen, I just told you. They weren't worth my time." There was an edge to his tone and I could tell his patience was wearing thin.
If there was anything I learned about him in our time spent together, Aiden Reyes was not a patient man. He was just about as patient as a five-year-old. Disregarding his obvious resentment of the topic, I continued my investigation.
"So, there were no girls?"
He chuckled darkly. "Of course there were girls. Every single one of them threw themselves at me." he was quiet for a second and then added, "I'll never understand what they saw in me."
I couldn't help feeling a tiny bit jealous of his first statement, but then realized I would never be his first. It was impossible. Besides, Jessica had already proven that I was already behind the game.
He must've noticed the conflicted expression on my face because he caressed my face softly. "Hey, right now you're the only girl on my mind."
I beamed up at him with triumph.
I must've had something that those girls didn't have if he finally chose me.
"So, if you like me that much, you'll tell me how you really know Matt?" I asked, my eyes full of hope.
He shook his head in wonder at me. "You're relentless, Brooklyn Lyles."
I gave him an innocent smile and he took a deep sigh before giving me the answer I wanted.
"Matt and I met a couple years ago in the UK."
I tell you, my jaw dropped. I was not expecting that answer.
"Wait, how? Are you from there?" I blurted out, looking for more answers.
He ran a hand through his hair, unintentionally messing it up more than it originally was. "I went there for two years on a work trip. We met through Eve."
Eve? Oh, he meant Evelyn.
"What was the work trip about?" I asked, not knowing that my questions were starting to annoy him.
He picked up a loose strand of hair lying in the middle of my face and moved it to the side. "You know, you ask way too many questions."
I crossed my arms over my chest and stuck out my tongue at him. "Well, you don't give me many answers."
He took one look at my stubborn expression and laughed, despite his best efforts to hold it in. He sat up, which forced me off his chest and I got up next to him.
The sunlight coming in from my open curtains gave his hair a golden brown effect, compared to the pitch blackness I was used to. And his eyes, there were beautiful hints of gray in them. I hadn't noticed these qualities before. They made him seem all that more unattainable.
I felt a warm hand grab my own and I inwardly gushed.
Definitely attainable.
"Well, if you want my sob story, prepare to be disappointed, angel. I require a few more dates, first." he playfully nudged my arm with his elbow.
I gulped audibly as I stared back at him in mock fear at his suggestion. He raised an eyebrow.
"What makes you think I'd wanna go on more dates?"
He gave me a million-dollar smile and flipped me over so fast I didn't see him move. And then, he was hovering over me, just like I had dreamt.
"Do you wanna repeat that to me, angel?" his eyes glinted with mischief and it dawned on me where this was going.
I gulped again, and this time it was real. My heart rate began to accelerate as he bent down ever so slowly and laid a quick peck on my lips.
"Aidennnn..."I drawled out his name and stuck out my bottom lip, pouting as he bent down again just to kiss my cheek.
I lifted my hands up to the collar of his shirt and tried to pull him back down, but he was stronger than me. His face crinkled with laughter.
He lowered his face just next to my ear so that I could feel his hot breath on my neck. My skin tingled with anticipation, but to my dismay, he spoke, "Impatient, are we?"
Damn you, Aiden.
We made love that day. What, did you think you were going to get details?
