I couldn't contain my smile as I heard my phone ring. I knew immediately who it would be.
"Hey, beautiful."
I bit my lip as I felt myself blush. "Hey."
"How are you, angel?"
This man sure had a way with words.
"I'm fine. How are you, handsome?" I teased back playfully.
He gave a low, throaty chuckle. "Fine, now that I'm talking to you."
For the past few days, Aiden had been calling me, well rather his phone every day, several times a day. It became really difficult to avoid him, so I answered one day, and soon this became a habit we both enjoyed.
"Would you like to go on a date with me, Brooklyn?" he asked after a moment and I felt my heart stop.
I had thought this day would never come.
"Yes!" I squealed probably too enthusiastically, causing him to laugh some more.
"Well, see you at five, angel."
After we hung up, I was on cloud nine. The rest of the day was quite frankly a glaze and went by quickly as my anticipation for my first date with Aiden grew. Thirty minutes before our date, I was already dressed, hair styled, makeup finished, and ready to go. The wait until five was painstakingly long.
I hate how time goes really slow when you want something.
However, my anxiety heightened exponentially when I heard a heavy knock on my door. It was my first time seeing Aiden since we had been on better speaking terms and just better terms in general.
"Hey, angel." he said in a low, rough voice as his eyes roamed my body from bottom to top, taking in every inch of me.
A slight blush crept to my cheeks and I looked away. I suddenly felt exposed. Maybe the dress I had worn to the club was way too daring for a first date.
"You look ravishing." he continued and reached for my hand.
I finally looked up at him.
My, was this man gorgeous.
He grinned knowingly as if reading my thoughts. "You ready?"
I nodded and managed a small smile as he pulled me away to the parking lot.
When we reached his car, I couldn't help but stare in shock a bit. He owned a silver Porsche, and even as a girl with no interest in cars, it was very sexy.
He chuckled at my reaction. "She's my wife."
I raised an eyebrow at this and tried to hide the unnecessary twinge of jealousy that blossomed in my chest. "She's very sexy."
His lips twisted into a smirk and amusement danced in his eyes.
"Jealous?"
Was it that obvious?
I swatted his arm playfully. "Let's just go."
He winked at me and opened the passenger door.
I couldn't help but giggle as I stepped in.
A few teasing remarks and witty comebacks and we were at what seemed like an ice skating rink. I was honestly, pleasantly surprised. His demeanor had suggested maybe a fancy restaurant, but with the casual clothing he was wearing that couldn't be the case. But, I had anything but ice skating in mind.
He must've noticed my surprise because amusement took over his face. "What, were you expecting something better?"
I shook my head and grinned. "Nope, this is perfect," I paused for a second before teasingly adding in, "Be careful, Mr. Reyes or I just might fall in love with you."
An unrecognizable expression crossed over his face before his lips grew into a smirk. "My intentions exactly, Ms. Lyles."
I inwardly gushed until I realized neither of us was dressed for the temperature and neither of us knew how to skate.
"She'll take a size seven, and I'll take a size eleven."
Aiden was at the counter getting our skates while I sat at a table nearby wrapping my arms around myself to keep warm.
Suddenly, I felt a warm sweater fall over my shoulders. I looked up and saw Aiden looking at me with softness in his eyes. "Is it too cold in here? We could go somewhere else."
I gave him a warm smile and shook my head. "Its fine. I just think I'm dressed a little inappropriately."
He sat down across from me and began to put his skates on. "You look stunning, angel. Don't worry about it. You can keep my jacket on."
I pulled my arms through the armholes and marveled at how big the jacket was on me. It was about two times the size of my skinny frame. It was so comfortable.
A minute later, we were both on the ice, holding onto the rails as we tried our best not to fall. I decided to be bold and let go of the rail, but that was a dumb mistake because I immediately fell on my butt.
His eyes twinkled as he laughed at me. A mischievous grin crossed his face. "You do realize you're only letting the cold air in? Your dress is very short."
I groaned and hid my face behind my hands mortified as I realized just how short my dress was exactly. I felt the cold ice thru the thin material I was wearing.
"Come here," he chuckled and helped me up.
I didn't know when, but he had picked up the art of ice skating and effortlessly glided over to me.
"How did you do that?" I asked him hoping for any hints he could give.
He just shrugged and winked at me.
We spent the rest of the evening gliding across the rink, well me holding onto him as he skated. He allowed me to see a side of him that I somehow always knew existed, but never had seen until now. He looked so carefree, like a regular boy.
Needless to say, I had fun. But, the date soon ended with us sitting in his car, neither of us quite ready to leave each other for the night.
"You know, I'll admit I wasn't quite expecting you to be like this." I told him, crossing my arms across my chest, pulling the jacket closer to me,
He c****d an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, you just looked so," I hesitated and searched for the right word to describe his behavior tonight, "different."
He chuckled. "I take it that's a good thing?"
I couldn't hide the pleased expression that came over my face. "It's a great thing."
"Well then my sweet Brooklyn, you won't mind if I kiss you, will you?" his voice suddenly grew huskier, and undeniably attractive as he stared at my lips and moved in closer.
I leaned in towards him and just before our lips met, he moved back a bit and smirked.
I hadn't noticed that my breathing had grown considerably heavier and that my chest was now visibly rising and falling.
"Note that I actually asked this time," he stated and winked at me.
Giggling, I leaned back in and in a split second, our lips met. The same spark as before ran through my body and I felt myself part my lips allowing him entrance into my mouth. His head titled and his tongue slipped into my mouth, tasting every inch.
His hands slipped up behind me and pulled me in closer to him, but unfortunately, the gear shift in the middle of our seats stood in our way and caused us to break apart. We both began laughing as we fell back into our seats.
As he shifted gear and got ready to drive off, I couldn't help but stare at him. The man I had thought about endlessly, who had haunted my thoughts, who I so desperately wanted to understand and know, was finally mine. My own prince charming.
I felt a hand on my lap and I looked down to see him searching for my hand to hold.
The perfect end to a perfect first date.
