"What about Martin back then?" Ethan shot the question right back.
"Huh? What do you mean?" Eleanor looked at him, clearly confused.
"I mean the old Martin—dirty, broke, homeless, always getting into trouble. That one."
"Well... I still liked him," she said, voice soft. "Martin, it's not the same."
Eleanor let out a sigh and shifted her gaze to the window. Honestly, she didn't even know where to start explaining all this to Ethan.
Martin was just someone who had wandered off track. But what she had with Carl... that was something else entirely.
