Katherine had originally planned to wait Carl out. She wanted him to reflect, apologize, maybe even beg a little. But a whole day slipped by without a word from him.
She cracked first and shot him a message.
Carl took one glance at it and replied, asking again, [I heard at school today that Eleanor dropped out because of you. They said you set her up. Is that true?]
Katherine went totally speechless. Without a second thought, she blocked him, flung her phone across the room, and screamed like a madwoman, "Eleanor, you btch! I swear I'll make your life hell!"
That evening, right after school, Ethan showed up like clockwork to pick up Eleanor.
