As the afternoon slipped into the evening, Flic felt herself become increasingly uneasy. Knowing her presence was exposed, though it was redirected elsewhere, made her feel vulnerable. Her skin constantly crawled, like many eyes were watching her from the shadows. It only got worse as the night drew over the field, but by that time, she was too drained to worry and ending up sitting on the soft grass at the centre of her ritual circle. Her mind and body had been on a constant high alert for hours, using her energy for the fear that it would be needed any second to save her life. When nothing happened, all she could do was wait.
