CHAPTER TWENTY Inside the ladies’ room at the sheriff’s department, Ashley slung her right foot up onto the chipped porcelain sink and scraped the mud off the sole of her hiking boot with a wad of paper towels. Since they’d arrived at the station, she’d attempted to speak with Wyatt in private several times, but he’d brushed her aside. It was obvious he wasn’t interested in hearing her apologize again. Ashley just wished she’d taken a moment to mull over her partner’s words before she’d opened her big mouth.
