A shaky breath escaped Lauren’s lips as she immediately rushed towards the surgeon. “How is he? Is Finn safe?” she demanded, the question raw with anxiety.
Beyond her immediate need for reassurance—that the only person who had consistently supported her in this entire complex for the years she had stayed her had survived the surgery—was the crushing weight of her unspoken apology and the desperate need to see him again.
“Finn sustained two serious abdominal wounds,” the doctor stated, his voice quiet but firm. “We stabilized the internal bleeding and repaired the damage to the bowel and liver. It was close.”
