I looked at him with such gratitude, and he leaned his head towards me to kiss me gently. Then, I looked at my father and smiled sweetly.
Evangeline: I'd love for you to teach me, Dada… and if one day you have nothing left to teach me, we'll go with a tutor…
Alexander looked at me with pride. I felt like I had accomplished something incredible in his eyes. Yet, I had only accepted my father's offer. The waitress returned, and Alexander took the order for the whole table. She then asked us what we wanted to drink. The men ordered beer, my father's red wine, and Alexander asked for white wine. She looked at me then, and I looked at Alexander with dismay. He smiled gently at me and ordered a glass of white wine for me as well, in addition to a glass of juice.
