Chapter 11

1007 Words
Aunt Agnes was already there and smiled when she saw us. Agnes: Good morning, Evy, did you sleep well? I felt myself blush and bit my lip. Evangeline: Very well, thank you, and you? She burst out laughing. Agnes: Better since I found out you're back, my dear. Evangeline: Is Dad up? He came into the kitchen at that very moment. Drake: So, I wasn't dreaming... I was afraid when I woke up this morning that I'd only been dreaming. Without really thinking about what I was doing, I went to him and snuggled into his arms. He gently closed them around me and held me close. I felt good against him, safe, not the same kind of safety as with Xander, but I felt that he would protect me from everything too. I looked up at him and kissed him softly on the cheek. Tears were gently rolling down her cheeks. Drake: My baby, my Evy… I'm… so happy you're here… I've looked everywhere for you and never found you… I'm so, so sorry I couldn't find you… Evangeline: I don't blame you, Dada. You couldn't find me. They kept me in a dungeon like a prisoner. They only started taking me out a few years ago, using me as a slave… I don't know how I survived, but I did, and Xander found me. So now I have to prepare to become a Wolf, and I'm terrified, Dada. Drake: I'll do everything I can to help you, Evy, but I don't know where to begin. There's so much you need to learn and so little time. Evangeline: Dada, I believe that to know who I am, I need to know where I come from. Tell me about her, tell me about Mama. I gently freed myself from my father's embrace and went to sit next to Xander. Aunt Agnes placed a plate of scrambled eggs with cheese on top in front of me, and I smiled, moved. I took a first bite, closing my eyes in pleasure. Goodness, it was so delicious, so… Evangeline: Happiness in every bite… My voice was barely a whisper, but Agnes heard it and burst into tears. I looked at her and stood up to hug her. Evangeline: Aunt Agnes, I… I then lost consciousness; it was total darkness, at least at first. When I fainted, I heard Xander shout, and I felt his strong arms catch me. I was aware of what was happening around me, but I was unable to react. Then, a silvery light appeared before me, and in the center of this light, I saw the shape of a woman. She approached me gently, smiling. Woman: Good morning, Evangeline. Her voice was soft and melodious, as if each word were sung. Woman: We have a lot to do and little time. Evangeline: Who are you? Goddess? You are the Goddess of the Moon. I knelt before her; head bowed in reverence. Evangeline: Thank you, my Goddess, for sending me Alexander... Goddess: Rise, daughter of my flesh, we have little time. I rose and looked at her. Her appearance was familiar, but I didn't understand why. Goddess: Listen to me carefully, my child, for when you awaken, your She-Wolf will be with you. Evangeline: What! But... Goddess: Listen and learn. When your parents were united, your mother could not conceive a child. I then gave her the gift of my flesh, allowing her to bear you, a child conceived from the flesh of man and goddess, in order to restore balance, to remove the gifts used for evil purposes. You were meant to be raised in love so that you could live a happy life before having to face your destiny. You possess many gifts, my child. You can communicate telepathically, but you already know this about your companion. When you awaken, you will be able to communicate with anyone you choose. You can see the future; the possibilities linked to your choices. You can remove a Wolf's gifts if they use them for anything other than justice and honor. You will be able to distinguish truth from falsehood, for some gifts allow the wolf to change its appearance. You are a daughter of the Moon. Evangeline: Mother, am I the only one? Goddess: No, my child, there are three of you. But you are my only daughter. You are the one I couldn't hide in time, and I had difficulty finding you until I sensed your prayer for me. Then I asked your companion to find you. Now is the time to wake up and transform yourself. Deep down, you know who you truly are. Evangeline: Wait, how long have I been here? Goddess: Time is relative here, my child, but on Earth, seven days have passed. But one last thing: your companion must mark you first. I opened my eyes and looked around. The room was quiet, but everything seemed different. I tried to stretch my arms and saw that I had legs instead, so I squealed with joy and hopped toward the mirror to see myself. My fur was silvery white, like the color of the full moon, and my eyes were a deep green. I then noticed movement around the room. Xander and my father were looking at me. Uncertain, I sat down in front of them and looked Xander in the eyes. I concentrated on what I wanted to say to him. Evangeline: It's really me, Xander. Everything's fine. Alexander: That's incredible! She just spoke to me. I didn't know that was possible. Drake: Me neither. I then turned to my father, remembering the Goddess's words. Evangeline: Hello, Dada. He gasped in surprise and spoke Drake: I think she just spoke to me too. Evangeline: Xander, if I transform back into a human, will I be naked? He looked towards the bed and grimaced. Alexander: I’m afraid so, my Angel, your clothes are in tatters. Evangeline: Daddy, could you please leave so I can change? Drake: Of course, Evy, take your time.
