My heart was racing, too fast. I felt dizzy. I was having trouble breathing. I was terrified, scared… I looked at myself in the mirror and could barely believe it was me. My cousin Melody had done my hair; she was the only one besides Aunt Agnes who could touch me long enough to do that. She had also helped me with my makeup, but I thought she had put on too much, so much so that I didn't recognize myself in the mirror.
Melody: So… what do you think?
I sighed softly and looked at her, speechless.
Evangeline: It's... too much... I don't even recognize myself anymore...
Melody: Oh... wait, I'll tone down your makeup... I forgot you weren't used to it...
She sat me down in the chair and took a makeup remover wipe so we could start over. I felt my body trembling, and she sighed softly.
