**Riley** The car ride home was completely silent. Kai gripped the steering wheel tight, his knuckles white. I sat in the passenger seat, my clothes still messed up from the backseat. My body felt sore and used, but my mind would not stop spinning. Neither of us said a word. The only sound was the low hum of the engine and the occasional click of the turn signal. I stared out the window at the passing streetlights until we pulled into the mansion driveway. Kai killed the engine. We sat there for a minute in the dark. Then he got out without looking at me.
