**Riley**
I lay in bed staring at the ceiling. The house was quiet after the party incident. My body still felt Kai’s hand on my thigh from the car. I told myself to forget it. I told myself this had to stop. But every night my mind replayed the kiss in the living room. My lips still tingled. My skin still burned where he touched me.
Three nights passed like this. I locked my door every time. I tried to focus on college work. Jade texted me to hang out, but I made excuses. I couldn’t tell her what was happening. Not yet.
On the fourth night, I woke to the soft click of my lock. My eyes flew open. The room was dark except for the thin moonlight from the window. I sat up fast, heart hammering.
Kai stood inside my room. He closed the door behind him without a sound. He wore only black sweatpants. His chest and arms showed all the dark tattoos. He looked at me with that same dangerous smirk.
“How did you get in?” I whispered. My voice shook a little.
He walked closer. “I have my ways, little sis. Locks don’t mean much in this house.”
I pulled the blanket up to my chest. “Get out, Kai. We can’t do this.”
He stopped at the edge of my bed. His grey eyes moved over me slowly. “You say that every time. But you never scream for help.”
I swallowed hard. He was right. I should have yelled. I should have pushed him out. Instead, I sat there watching him.
He sat on the bed. The mattress dipped under his weight. “You’ve been avoiding me since the car.”
“I’m not avoiding you,” I lied. “I just… we almost got caught. My mom was right there.”
Kai reached out and took my hand. His fingers were warm and rough. He pulled me closer until I was sitting right in front of him. “She didn’t see anything. And even if she did, I don’t care.”
“You should care,” I said. I tried to pull my hand back, but he held it tighter. “This is wrong. We’re step-siblings now.”
His other hand came up and brushed my hair behind my ear. “We’re not blood. And you know you want this as much as I do.”
I opened my mouth to argue, but he leaned in. His lips brushed mine, soft at first. Then the kiss grew harder. I made a small sound and kissed him back. My hands moved to his shoulders. His skin was hot under my fingers.
We broke apart for air. “Kai…” I whispered.
“Shh.” He pushed me gently onto my back. He climbed over me, careful not to put all his weight down. His body covered mine. I felt every hard muscle against me. “Just let it happen tonight.”
Our mouths met again. This time the kiss was deeper. His tongue touched mine and I moaned quietly. My fingers dug into his back. He tasted like mint and something darker. His hand slid under my thin sleep shirt. His palm moved slowly up my stomach until he cupped my breast. His thumb brushed over my n****e. Pleasure shot through me.
I gasped into his mouth. “We can’t go further.”
“I know,” he said against my lips. His voice was low and rough. “But I can touch you.”
He kissed down my neck. His teeth grazed my skin just enough to make me shiver. I arched my back without thinking. His hand kept moving, squeezing gently, teasing. My body felt hot and tight everywhere he touched.
I ran my hands over his chest. My fingers traced the lines of his tattoos. I felt the strong beat of his heart. “You’re so arrogant,” I whispered, but there was no real anger in it.
Kai chuckled against my collarbone. “And you’re so stubborn. But look at you now. Wet and shaking for me already.”
My face burned. I wanted to deny it, but my hips moved against him on their own. I felt how hard he was through his sweatpants. The pressure between my legs grew stronger.
He kissed me again, harder this time. His hand left my breast and moved down. He slipped it inside my shorts, over my panties. His fingers pressed against me through the thin fabric. I jerked and let out a soft whimper.
“Quiet, Riley,” he murmured. “You don’t want them to hear how much you like this.”
I bit my lip to stay silent. His fingers moved in slow circles. Pleasure built fast. My breathing came quick and shallow. I grabbed his shoulders tighter.
Kai watched my face the whole time. His eyes were dark with hunger. “That’s it. Feel it. You’re mine now, whether you admit it or not.”
I shook my head, but my body said yes. The tension inside me climbed higher. His fingers pressed a little firmer. I was close. So close.
Then he stopped. He pulled his hand back and kissed me softly on the lips.
I stared at him, breathing hard. My body ached with frustration. “Kai… why?”
He smirked and brushed his thumb over my swollen lips. “Because I want you desperate for me. Next time, maybe I won’t stop.”
He rolled off me and stood up. I sat up fast, my shirt twisted, my shorts messed up. My heart still raced.
“You can’t just leave me like this,” I whispered angrily.
Kai leaned down and gave me one last kiss. It was possessive and deep. “I can. And you’ll think about me all night.”
He walked to the door. Before he left, he looked back. “Lock it after I go. But we both know I’ll be back tomorrow.”
The door clicked shut behind him. I stayed on the bed, body trembling. I touched my lips again. They felt hot and used. Between my legs, the ache wouldn’t go away.
I hated how much I wanted him to come back. I hated how good it felt when he touched me. This was toxic. This was dangerous. But when I finally lay down and closed my eyes, all I could see was Kai’s dark eyes and that cruel smirk.
One night he almost went further. But he stopped himself again. He left me aching and frustrated, just like he wanted.
I whispered to the empty room, “I should run from you, Kai Voss.”
But deep down, I already knew I wouldn’t.
