Chapter Five: John

It took a year for my dad to finally even get an inch on his idea of meeting with the vampire king, Lord Ethal. I still don't agree with him. I don't think he should bring that girl to the pack. I still haven't learnt her name, but I do know that she is a cousin to Rebecca, Josh's childhood friend. We stand at the gates of the vampire kingdom, dad thought it would be better to have both his sons by him rather than one. Why me? I don't know, I didn't care about this girl in the slightest.

I watch as vampires swarm us, it was just me, my brother, our dad, and a few warriors, ten at the most. Dad wasn't here to fight after all, he just wanted to take the girl and her two cousins. It takes about twenty minutes before we are finally let through the damn gates. I noticed my brother tense but didn't know why, I look around without being obvious about it. I see six vampire kids standing close to the doors. One catches my eye she has brunette hair and emerald green eyes that shine bright. Pretty but she looks like a year younger than me so probably fourteen.

I keep my face blank and back stright as she looks over at us. She doesn't show much and its hard for me to read her. I see my brother walk over and stand in front of one of them. The girl I was looking at looks at my brother as he stands in front of the girl next to her and sniffs the air. That could only mean one thing. Sure enough he brought her over, and spoke softly to our dad. He talked about how it was Rebecca and ho she is his mate. I don't really pay attention as I look back at the girl I was originally looking at.

Telling by how excited she was for Rebecca and how close she stood, she must be the girl my dad wants to take home. I study her closely, she was pretty, I sniff the air but subtly, yep, wolf, also witch and vampire. That must be her, my jaw tight as I take in everything, judging her. So far she doesn't seem to be hostile, but I still doen't trust her and not sure I ever will. I see her look back at me and I look away, I hear her huff and for some reason it makes me want to smile but I don't. Instead I keep my face blank.

Finally we are tacken into the council chambers, and we all take our seats. Josh has his mate stay out of the room, and tells her he will be back for her after the meeting. I stay silent as the meeting starts and my dad speaks with the king, and Josh joins in. My mind keeps drifting to the girl however, I just don't trust her completely. I straighten when I hear the king asks, "So you want Lilly Anna and her two cousins?" My dad nods, "Yes, that is correct."

"May I ask why?" The king asks and I have to bite my tongue, how can someone be so clueless? "Well s you know, Lillyanna is a hybrid and not to mention your people bit her. So now she has also turned into a vampire." My dad states, so Lillyanna was her name...interesting. The king nods, "I am aware." "Well she and her cousins need to learn to control their witch powers when they come in, if theyhaven't already. We have witches living in our kingdom to help them. Also she will need someone to guide herwhen her wolf decides to come."

My dad continues, "Usually that happens at the age of eighteen, but since she is a hybrid we are unsure. we also have to look at the fact that she was bitten by your kind and that might alter when she might have her first shift. So therefore she needs to be able to control her wolf and wolf instincts." He tells Lord Ethal, and he nods. "That is understandable, but...." Lord Ethal folds his hands on the table and leans forward. "What will I get in return ifI give you her and her two cousins." He asks my dad curious.

My father nods, he was expecting this outcome. "I'll give you a months trade at no cost." Lord Ethal straightens. "Amonths trade? That's all you will offer me and my kingdom?" My dad stiffens but ups the price, and I couldn't help but wonder, was this girl worth it? "Fine, a year and a half trade at no cost." Me and Josh both look at our dad, was he serious? Lord Ethal nods, "Now that is a fair deal for them three." He waves his hand and one of his men brings over papers, I can only guess is the contract.

He signs it and lets my dad and Josh read over the papers. When they are done and satisfied they both sign it and give them back. After that is out of the way they ctch up on other deals and things they need done. Honestly, why was I even here? After that the three in question are brought into the council chambers and told to pack their things. I couldn't help but notice the way Lillyanna looks at me, like she was trying to read me and figure me out. She doesn't even look away when I look her way, instead he locks eyes with me, her expression blank just like mine.

An hour later they are all three ready to go, my dad and Josh talk to them. Lillyanna watches me and I watch her in turn. Rebecca talks while her brothe, who I found out his name is Alex, waves bye to three vampire kids. Lillyanna hugs the girl and waves to the boys, which surprises me a bit. Shouldn't she hate them? When she turns and sees me watching she just gives a shrug and walks by me. I can tell that me and her are not going to get along well. Lillyanna talks to dad about her dad and mother, how she held anger for that day but found that not all the vampires wanted that war.

She tells how a witch had come to the vampires and after a yearof trust the witch tried to kill the king and queen. Now everything made more sense. During the trip I stayed quiet until Alex started talking to me, and I learned that we actually had a lot in common. I noticed Lillyanna was listening even though she wasin a conversation with my dad, Josh, and Rebecca. The ride would take hours so I just continued to talk with Alex, and watch Lillyanna.

I still don't trust her, but she doesn't seem all that bad either. In any case, time will tell, I hope my dad is right and that she can be trusted. I hope she will do the right thing and not let anger cloud her mind. Time will tell, and whichever path she takes will determine rather I will stand by her side or fight against her.
