Chapter Two: Lillyanna

1126 Words
I run through the halls of the palace as fast as I could. Being a witch/wolf hybrid but also a vampire because I was bitten, I was pretty fast even at the age of thirteen. I past the other maids as I try to find my cousin, Rebecca, we weren't by any means free but the king of vampires, Lord Ethal, did not make us prisoners all those years ago. It's still hard to believe I lost my parents at the age of five, but such was fate when war was going. Me and my two cousins, along with some other kids that were tacken and turned eight years ago, were able to do schooling and participate in activities. We were not allowed to learn combat however, both the king and queen agreed on that. They fear us witches turning on them if we did learn such things. I however, along with my cousins, have learned from a few of the vampire kids. Henry, Aurther, and Sahra, were great at combat even at our ages. Henry and Aurther are a year older than me so fourteen, Sahra is my age, thirteen. I know you are probably wondering why we are even friends with them, but in truth when the witch kingdom had a treaty with the vampires, before the war eight years ago. Their parents had often brought them along with them when there were trades or other things going on. Since my parents, Alfred and Astride, who were both royal guards for the witches even though my father was a wolf, they would always attend and in doing so, me and my cousins made friends with the three vampire kids back then. I find Rebecca with Alex, Henry, Aurther, and Sahra, even though some vampires despise me and the other witches. Them and their families don't, we were all friends and I was thankful for that. As I run I wave a letter in the air, one I had just received from Auntie Elanor and Uncle Tillford. No I am not related to them by blood, but my parents had been close to the royal family, and so I called them that as a child. "Becca! Look!" I holler excitedly. Rebecca turns to see me dashing towards her, and looks at my waving hand with the letter. I stop by her not even sweating from running so long, perks of being half wolf and had been bitten by a vampire. I show her the letter as I speak, "Auntie Elanor and Uncle Tillford sent me a letter. I thought it would be bad like all the others, but look!" She takes the letter from my hand, and reads it out loud for everyone to hear. "Dear, Lillyanna" she starts to read. "for the first time in eight years I might actually have good news. The vampires are wanting to talk and negotiate on the war. They want to talk about what started it and what causes they have. If all goeswell, than you and the other children, who were tacken, will be able to come home. We are still uncertain about when this may happen, or even if it will. I hope that you, you're cousins, and the other children are doing at least okay." She stops to take a breath and continues. "I am aware you are not considered prisoners, but still not allowed to come or go, or learn combat. I hope this letter makes it to you child, and have faith, Fate works in mysterious ways after all. Sincerely, King Tillford and Lady Elanor" After she is done reading the letter, she gives me and the others soft smile. Like me she has a hard time having faith in the gates and the future, sometimes even others. Alex smiles at everyone and says' "Well if this does happen then we get to go home. That would be amazing, don't you think so?" Everyone nods in agreement. I look at Sahra, I see her not smiling like everyone else, and just looking at Alex. I think she has a crush on my cousin but is to afraid to say anything, especially with the kingdoms fighting one another. Maybe one day we will all be able to love who we want, and be happy for one another instead of walking around on eggshells. A few days after that, I hear that Lord Ethal and Lady Elizabeth have a council meeting. I wish I could find out what was being said, but alas I was too busy with my chores, cleaning, and my schooling. Only if my powers were a bit stronger, than I could hear a whisper. All witches have an elemental power, some two or even three it depends on your strength or how strong you may become. I happen to have all four, Earth, water, air, and fire. I try to practice with them, but it's hard at my age, and with no one to guide me through it. Rebecca has three, water, Earth, and fire. Alex has two, but I think he also has the ability to teleport if he knows where he want's to go and can picture the place in his mind. Just as I finish my chores and the other things I needed to get done in the palace, Rebecca walks up with Sahra and smiles. "Lilly, want to go to the room and train with Sahra and I?" I grin, training was just something I loved to do, maybe it was the wolf in me or the fact my parents were warriors, but I loved to train in combat and stealth, even if we have to do it in secret. "Yeah, just give me a sec to change, okay?" I tell them both nd they nod. "Sure thing girl." Sahra beams at me. Ten minutes later, we are practicing what Sahra learned in her training today. Like always I catch on quickly and fast. "Damn girl, remind me not to piss you off." Sahra says, and her and Rebecca laugh, and my chest fills with pride. I take after my parents I suppose, and I loved that fact. After about another ten to twenty minutes we call it quits and headto eat lunch. We meet up with the three guys, and go to the dining hall where everyone eats if they so wish to. As we eat I start to feel hot and under the weather, so I stop eating. I go to the infirmary after Alex and Reecca beg me to. The nurse tells me it's just a bug and that I need to rest for a few days, and so I do. Maybe I will get overwhatever is making me feel so hot and antsy.
