Chapter 17 You Don't Know...

Eva's POV.

"Is it that bad?We need more details, Romeo," Beta Kyle inquired in a worried tone.

Doctor Romeo let out a deep sigh.

"The Alpha has wolfsbane poison in his blood and we are trying to prevent it from reaching his heart. The problem is it took a little too long before he was brought here and that complicated things and worse he also lost a lot of blood" Doctor Romeo explained.

His explanation was really scary but it was a bitter truth that I had to accept. Alpha Trent was not in a good condition, he was suffering and I was to blame for all his pain.

It would always be my fault no matter how much anyone tried convincing me otherwise.

"And there is something crucial that has to be carried out as soon as possible and that's a blood transfusion, the blood type of Alpha Trent is a rare one. It is not available in the blood bank" Doctor Romeo added.

"W–what blood type is he?" I questioned with a raspy voice and Beta Kyle told me his blood group.

"Check my blood group, maybe I can donate" I urged and stretched out my hand to him.

"First we would carry out a test to know if you are fit to carry out the exercise or not," Doctor Romeo muttered and asked me to accompany him in the laboratory.

I accompanied him there and he tested my blood. Though the result had not come out, I was quite relieved but still bothered about the whole ordeal.

"Does this guarantee his safety?" I inquired with my voice quivering.

My tears were threatening to fall but I held them in. I felt worse than ever as he responded.

"I would like to be optimistic and give encouraging words over his situation but I'm sorry, I really can't say that the Alpha…" He trailed off.

"Alpha Trent will survive, he's a strong Alpha and this wouldn't be his first injury he had suffered. He had overcome all obstacles before and this would be no different. That I can reassure you" He smiled at me.

There was a lot of sadness and uneasiness behind his smile and I knew that there would be a probability of Alpha Trent dying.

"There is something strange about your blood," doctor Romeo said as a nurse handed him the result.

"What's wrong with my blood?" I asked. Alpha Seth was behaving strangely when he came in contact with my blood.

Did I have some sickness or a virus?.

"Doctor, what's wrong with my blood?" I repeated my question.

"There is something in it that makes your blood have stronger content than the blood of others but I can't identify what it is for now" Doctor Romeo replied and stared at strangely.

"Is it bad?"

"No, it's rare, it only happens once in a hundred years," Doctor Romeo said and I was shocked.

"I don't understand what you mean, I'm really confused about what has been happening to me lately?" I sniffed.

"I really don't know but I guess that would be a research for next time" Doctor Romeo smiled. “Your blood matched the Alpha's”

I broke into a smile, this would really assist him in recuperating.

"Follow me" Doctor Romeo said and I followed him to the room of Alpha Trent.

We reached the room and fresh tears filled my eyes at the sight of my mate being in such a critical condition.

"He looks…"I couldn't complete my statement without crying.

" Shh, Trent has always been strong, he wouldn't like to see you cry; especially you"Doctor Romeo muttered with a knowing smile.

I realized that he knew that I was Alpha Trent's mate. He was aware of my identity and I stupidly thought no one knew.

" I know that mates being close to their fellow mates assist in their recovery, it's like an energy transfer that enables their wolves to respond speedily to treatment, you should try it" Doctor Romeo smiled and we walked to a bed close to Alpha Trent's.

I laid down.

"What if it doesn't work because he is too angry with me?" I sobbed and looked at Alpha Trent being attended to by the nurses.

"Alpha Trent never stays angry for too long and I believe you are too important to him. He wouldn't want to lose you for anything in the world" Doctor Romeo said and my heart broke the most.

Everyone could see his affection and love for me but I was too blinded by my rage and unbelief. He didn't have to use words to confess his feelings because his eyes had already said it all.

"I was really bad to him, I hurt him a lot but he ended up saving my life" I said in tears and Doctor Romeo gave me a shocked look.

"The Alpha risked his life for you!" He exclaimed.

"Yes and I'm sorry for not stopping him"

He connected the tubes or whatever those pipes were called and it seemed like Alpha Trent's body had been emptied of his blood.

I relaxed and the blood transfusion began, my eyes were on Alpha Trent through it all.

"Talk to him, his wolf would be able to hear you. That could aid his healing process" Doctor Romeo said and left along with the nurses.

"I know that this is my fault and I take the blame for it, you really don't deserve to be here. I should be in this position" I muttered in tears.

"I should be battling for my life but you attempted to sacrifice your life for me despite how awful I treated you and how much I doubted your affection for me. I threw everything we had away"

"I'm so sorry for being so selfish, you might never forgive me for this and I would understand but I need you to wake up" I cried out.

My heart squeezed within my chest, my throat tightened as I continued speaking.

"Your parents need you especially Hannah, she loves you so much. Your people like Beta Kyle and the members of the pack wants their Alpha back; they can't live without you"

"Wake up and fight for them, they are worried and sorrowful; they need their Alpha" I mumbled and my tears dropped from one eye to the next.

"Alpha Trent, I n–need you more" I hiccuped.

I began feeling weak and later Doctor Romeo disconnected the tubes and I slowly fell unconscious.

I woke up after a while and found myself in another room.

I wondered who ordered me to move away but I was still concerned about Alpha Trent.

"Alpha Trent" I called and licked my dry lips.

I looked around the room and sat up. I tried clambering down the bed and I tripped to the floor.

"Haa" I groaned and slowly stood up to my feet. I sauntered out of the room and located Alpha Trent's room.

I reached and barged into the room. I met Alpha Trent wide awake and my heart swelled in joy.

He sat straight staring at me with those beautiful dark orbs of his.

"Alpha Trent" I smiled and walked towards him.

"What are you doing here?" Alpha Trent asked with anger in his hoarse and low voice.

"I'm here to–"

"Leave, I don't want to see you," Alpha Trent said sternly.

My wolf and I were hurt by his words but I already anticipated his reaction but I didn't expect it to hurt me this much.

"I just came to check up on you and know… If you were fine or not” I partly lied while holding back my tears.

" Now you know that I'm fine then what are you still doing here? " Alpha Trent questioned, his voice and expression were cold and filled with rile.

"Nothing" I replied and turned back to leave.

"Be ready for my rejection tomorrow" He said and I turned to him in shock.

"W–what!"

"I'm rejecting you,Eva" He replied.
