Chapter 15 Do A Backgrou...

Eva's POV.

I was more elated to see him here, he was here to save me or rescue me and probably use me.

I wasn't sure his purpose for finding me but whatever it was, I was still happy to see him; I should be angry and unhappy but the opposite was the case.

I had every reason to detest him for what he told Alpha Seth but I guess my feelings for him are too strong. I get too attached to people and that's why he was able to fool me all this while.

He knew I needed love and affection and that he used this for his own benefit, I thought he was different.

I thought my mate was different.

Alpha Trent stared at me and I saw those same affection in his eyes, it had this softness in his eyes that no one ever had for me.

It seemed so sincere but I was doubtful;my heart was full of questions for him.

His eyes diverted to Alpha Seth and they turned angry and darkened.

"How dare you do this to her?" Alpha Trent yelled.

"Have you forgotten that it was a mere slave who injured me or rather almost killed me?" Alpha Seth yelled back. “She's just a slave and you are aware of the fact that no matter how much power she possesses it would not still change her status!“

“Are you angry that she's naked?" Alpha Seth chuckled and buckled his belt. “That's the least she deserves"

"I have heard enough from you!" Alpha Trent yelled and brought out a sword from its sheath.

He launched at Alpha Seth but he swiftly dodged his attack and the others began fighting Alpha Trent.

Alpha Seth used the opportunity to step aside and he stood beside me.

"I don't think your dear Alpha will survive this, death awaits him" Alpha Seth whispered to my ear and I became frightened.

I was scared for his safety, he came here alone without any guards or backup, I didn't know why he was doing this but it was unwise.

I watched as their swords clashed against each other at such a fast pace. One of them tried to stab Alpha Trent from behind while he was battling with the other but Alpha Trent was able to kick him from behind.

He flew backwards and hit his back against a tree. The remaining two raised their sword against Alpha Trent but he blocked them with his sword.

He lifted it and they both flew away to a distance, but unknown to Alpha Trent that the other one was, coming towards him with a sword.

"Alpha Trent!" I yelled and he turned back. In an instant he thrusted the sword into the stomach of the thug.

Alpha Trent pulled out the sword and cut off his head with it.

Alpha Trent must not be used to fighting since he had his guards and warriors but I'm surprised to see only him here. It really scared me to see him fighting them alone and I was here tied up, unable to do anything.

The other two launched their attack at him and tried striking him with their swords.

Alpha Seth suddenly pulled my hair making me groan.

"I don't think your Alpha is going to survive this" Alpha Seth said.

“Their swords are laced with wolfsbane, just one thrust and he's going to die "Alpha Seth muttered and my eyes filled with tears.

I had never witnessed such cruelty before.

Alpha Trent was able to strike one of them with his sword and ir left that came injured. The one presently challenging Alpha Trent was large in size and he had a deadly look on his face.

Only the expression on his face showed how dangerous he was. He threw his sword on the floor and brought a dagger from his inner outfit.

Alpha Trent launched an attack at him but he dodged it and slashed the side of Alpha Trent's rib with the dagger.

"Aah" Alpha Trent gasped and his side bled.

"Alpha Trent!" I shrieked in tears. I turned to Alpha Seth and he was watching with a smile on his lips.

Alpha Seth began losing the ropes around me. I was confused by what he was doing. My wounds were yet to heal and I was too weak to fight him.

I watched as the dangerous one raced to Alpha Trent to stab him but he counter acted his attack and slashed his throat with the sword.

"Say goodbye to her" Alpha Seth yelled and ran along with me at great speed.

I lifted up my gaze weakly and Alpha Trent was following us swiftly. He looked truly worried for me, he came alone without protection because he cared or was this simply a show to make me believe him.

Was this a charade?.

We reached a point and Alpha Seth threw me down on the floor and faced Alpha Trent.

"You want to fight, let's do it like real Alphas!" Alpha Seth yelled and his eyes changed colors.

His claws could be seen.

I gazed at Alpha Trent and he was bleeding from the side; the wound wasn't healing. It wasn't healing because it had been laced with wolfsbane.

" Eva, are you okay?"Alpha Trent asked loudly.

I nodded but then Alpha Seth suddenly attacked Alpha Trent and they both fell on the floor. The sword fell from Alpha Trent's hand as well.

Alpha Seth tried slashing Alpha Trent with his claws but the latter slashed his chest with his own claws.

Alpha Seth pushed him off him and attempted cutting his throat but Alpha Trent held his hand, bending it backwards.

"Aah!!!" A groan came from Alpha Seth but he punched Alpha Trent with his free hand. The punch turned brutal.

My eyes became clouded with tears and my vision blurry. I lowered my gaze and stared at the ground for a few seconds.

I felt drowsy but stared at them again, Alpha Trent looked in a worse position than Alpha Seth.

My wolf and I were incredibly worried for our mate, even if he might simply be pretending because he was keen on claiming my powers, he was still my mate.

I still cared for him and my feelings for him would never change and so would my hurt.

I looked at them and Alpha Trent had pinned Alpha Seth to the floor.

"It's forbidden to kill your fellow Alpha!" Alpha Seth yelled, desperately.

"Oh really!, that rule would have stood if you didn't dare touch my mate" Alpha Trent growled and slashed off his throat, the blood splashed on his face and clothes.

His gaze met mine and he walked towards me still holding the side of his rib.

He knelt down beside me and raised me up. He kissed me on my lips regardless of the blood on it.

Was this a pretense too?.

Alpha Trent parted the kiss and caressed my cheeks with his blood stained hand.

"Where does it hurt?" Alpha Trent inquired, he has an anxious look on his face.

I stared at him and kept mute.

"I was so worried about you, I was scared that something must have happened to you; I'm so sorry for coming late" Alpha Trent muttered and hugged me tightly.

He parted the hug and took off his shirt and made me wear it.

He kissed me again but I refused to respond, it didn't seem like an ordinary kiss because he was taking away my pain with his powers.

He was injured and this could worsen his condition.

"Stop!" I mumbled and pushed him away.

Alpha Trent was taken aback by it, I moved away from him; I had suddenly regained my strength.

I stood up and he did as well.

"I know that I came here late but I swear to the moon goddess that I searched for you everywhere" Alpha Trent said.

"Searched for me?" I chuckled dryly.

“Well I doubt that because it took you almost forever to save your mate!" I yelled, finding my strength.

"What do you mean by that?, I know that I didn't come as early as you expected and you must have passed through some ordeals there but I'm sorry" Alpha Trent hollered and groaned holding the bleeding side of his rib.

It worried me but I didn't show it.

"Well I don't believe you, stop this pretense!"

"Eva, I don't understand anything you are saying; I'm not pretending in any way and you should know me better!" said Alpha Trent with a hurt expression.

"I don't know you but I know you were such a good actor.you should be given an award for your great skills. The times we kissed you must have been extremely irritated but decided to keep up the act to warn control over my powers, right?" I shouted angrily.

"What has gotten…ah"

He was strangely sweating all over and his skin was changing colors.

"Why are you saying this to me?" Alpha Trent asked.

I shook my head in disbelief. “You were aware that I had powers and that was why you rescued me from Liam, you didn't really care about my slave status because you were only interested in my powers which would make your reign more magnificent!"

" You are speaking nonsense, I wasn't even aware of who you were when I first saw you; my wolf acknowledged you as my mate and I couldn't watch then hurt someone like that. I only found out you were Alpha Zeigler's daughter when I did a background check on you” Alpha Trent responded.

"Eva, I cared about you;believe me" He urged.

"I don't care what you say, I don't believe you"

"I don't know who filled your head with all these lies but should trust me because I am your mate and I would not do anything to hurt you" Alpha Trent muttered and moved close to me but I stepped away from him.

"This is just part of your lies, huh?" tears welled up in my swollen eyes.

"Ahh…" He whimpered.

My wolf was worried, she urged me to stop and try helping him but I pushed her back. She didn't control me, I controlled her.

"I w–would never lie to you and whatever anyone has told you isn't true because you are my mate and I lo…" He trailed off, not able to complete his statement.

"And you what!" I shouted in tears.

He sealed his lips and refused to complete his statement. My heart shattered into a million pieces.

This meant he really never had any feelings or emotions for me. Either it was pure lust or thirst for power but nothing like love. He would make me his Luna for my powers and have s*x with me for my beauty but there was nothing like love.

"Why can't you say it?" I cried out. “You can't say you love me because you don't feel it and you've never did”

"Eva, let's leave" Alpha Trent insisted and grabbed me by the arms.

"Let me go!" I yelled and pushed him.

I didn't expect him to fall on the floor but he did and groaned.

"I'm not going anywhere with you; I would rather become a rogue and live my life forever as one than spend it with you" I sobbed and walked away from him.

"Eva" He called but I refused to look back.

"Eva!!" He shrieked and he embraced me from behind.

I slowly turned and his skin had gone incredibly pale, his veins were turning black and blood was dripping from his nostrils.

"Ev–"

He tried speaking but spat blood on my face and I gasped.

I looked downwards and an arrow was sticking out
