Jena's words froze me in place.
"I haven’t gone anywhere near her since that monster came to see me!"
My chest tightened, my pulse hammering. Why did she say that?
Monster? My mind raced, trying to piece together what she meant. Who made her afraid like this?
I had never seen Jena with this expression. She always braved everything and it made her become a bad girl.
But call it a monster… I bet this person successfully made her back down so as not to hurt Lena.
