(Lena's POV).
The sun hadn’t fully risen yet, but my nerves were already wide awake, clawing at my stomach.
I could barely focus on the path ahead as we made our way to the venue for the second round of the Warrior Competition.
“You’re quiet this morning,” Kai said from beside me, his golden-brown eyes glinting with concern.
Adrian glanced over too, adjusting the cuffs of his jacket.
“Yeah, usually you’re asking questions or analyzing things out loud by now. Something on your mind?”
I tried to force a smile, but it barely held.
“I was just wondering… is Lucas okay?”
Adrian’s jaw tensed. It was subtle, but I caught it.
“Your focus should be on the competition, Lena. Don’t waste a single second worrying about someone who isn’t here to support you.”
