The air in the room felt unbearably thick, as if the walls themselves were closing in.
The silence that followed Kai’s revelation was suffocating, my curiosity rising with every passing second.
My heart pounded in my chest as I stared at him, my mind racing with thoughts I couldn’t make sense of.
I swallowed hard before speaking, my voice hoarse from all the crying.
“Kai… why did you think Jena was responsible for what happened to me?” My voice trembled slightly, but I kept my gaze steady on him.
Kai didn’t answer right away. Instead, he clenched his jaw and turned away, pacing the length of the room like a caged wolf barely holding himself together.
His hands were balled into fists at his sides, and I could tell he was fighting himself over something.
