Glancing at Fred again, Carey swallowed his frustration at the dude’s impassive face. “Can’t you see they’re amazing?” he wanted to shout at him. “Talented and creative, with an enthusiastic fan base? They’re so goddamn good!” But Fred didn’t react, even when Jase faded into the background to let the musicians take the spotlight with their solos.
