I looked at the baby in Megan's arms and almost laughed. So that explained why Jason had stopped even pretending to be a good husband after 5 years of marriage. He finally had a child. Before we married, Jason had promised me that he wanted to remain childfree. Yet just 5 years later, he'd already fathered a child with another woman. I wasn't heartbroken. I had already died once. Nothing about him could hurt me the same way again. So I calmly said, "Jason never wanted children. We didn't have any because he was the one who didn't want them. I have no reason to believe you.
