Twenty-Five – Dear BossOne might think the spicy interview with the police in my own place of employment jangled my nerves, alarmed me, or caused me concern. That wasn't the case in the least. Truth was, my little talk with the flatfooted peelers set me entirely at ease. It proved, beyond doubt, the Metropolitan Police were adrift in their investigation. I was merely a hospital employee, among all of the employees to whom they were directing their open-ended inquiries. They didn't know a thing. How interesting I found it, then, to read an overly dramatic opinion piece in one of the papers of the day that 'the spirit of Dark Annie Chapman was wandering Whitechapel… unavenged by justice.'
