A Plan To Run

1654 Words
The Black Raven Moon pack was coming and I knew that I had to take advantage of the distraction. I needed to put some distance between us before I rejected my pack, otherwise, I would be killed. I spent the next few days packing my things and making a plan. I would leave in the early hours of the morning, before anyone was awake. I would take whatever food I could carry and enough clothes to last a few days. I knew it wouldn't be enough, but it was all I could do. I had to be careful not to be caught. If he found me, he would kill me. I waited for the cover of darkness and then slipped away from the packhouse. My heart was pounding in my chest as I made my way into the forest. I had never been this far away from the packhouse before and I was terrified of getting lost, but I had to keep going. I started walking again, but I was so scared that I was going the wrong way. Then I heard something else. I heard a twig break and I stopped moving. I was so scared. I started crying again and fell to the ground. I looked up at the sky and saw the moon, but then something moved in front of me. It was a man. "Who are you?" the man asked. "I'm lost," I said. "I'm so scared." "You're lost?" he asked. He had a deep voice. "I'm so scared," I repeated. "I don't know where I am." "You're lost," he told me again. "You're in the woods." I started crying again. "I'm so scared," I said. "I'll take you to the packhouse," he told me. "We'll get you something to eat. You'll be okay." "No!" I cried. "I can't go there." He looked at me, his green eyes scanning my face, and noticed my healing injuries for the first time. "Who did this to you?" He demanded. I shook my head, unable to speak. He cursed and grabbed my arm, pulling me towards the packhouse. "No!" I cried. "I can't go there." He looked at me, his face hard. "We're wolves, we punish people who do this to our kind." "I can't," I said. "Please, just leave me alone." He looked at me, his green eyes clouded with anger. He cursed again, his eyes flashing. "No," he said. "You're coming with me." He grabbed my arm, pulling me along. I protested and struggled to free myself, but he had a strong grip and held me tight. He dragged me towards the packhouse, through the woods, with me stumbling along behind him. "No!" I cried, trying to pull away from him, but he held me tight. He pulled me across the clearing in front of the packhouse, and I saw a girl standing in the doorway, watching us approach. As we drew near, she stepped out of the doorway and stood there waiting, watching us. I thought she was going to yell at the man who was dragging me across the clearing by my arm, but she did nothing but stand there watching us approach her. When we reached the doorway, the girl stepped away from it offering her neck in submission, and we entered. The man let go of my arm, and I rubbed it where he had gripped it. "Alpha Black." She murmured. My blood ran cold. The man dragging me back to my abuser was none other than the Alpha of the Black Raven Moon pack. He was rumored to be a ruthless, cold, killer. "Find Alpha Lenox, now." He barked. The girl bowed and scurried off down the hallway. I could feel the anger radiating off of him. "What is your name?" He asked in a deep voice. "My name is Raylyn." I answered, terrified. "Well, Raylyn." He began. "I'm going to ask you some questions and you will answer them." He said as he walked around me. "If you lie to me I will know. Do you understand?" I nodded, my eyes wide with fear. I had no idea what this man was capable of. I stood silently, taking in his scent. It was deep, earthy, and smoky. A shiver ran through me as I inhaled his masculine scent. He was a handsome man, with dark hair and stormy eyes. His face was angular, almost sharp, and his body was thick with muscles. Even in my fear, I couldn't help but admire his physique. He was wearing a pair of black jeans and a long sleeve t-shirt that showcased his muscular arms. "Good," he said, stopping in front of me. "First, why did you run?" I licked my lips and tried to think of something, anything to say. But the only thing that came to mind was the truth. "Because I was scared," I finally said. "How did you get the injuries on your face?" "I was beaten." His nostrils flared and I could feel his Alpha aura pressing down on me. "Who?" "Some boys, I'm not sure." I lied. I could see the anger in his eyes, the rage. I was terrified. He was going to kill someone. I was sure of it. "I told you I would know if you lied to me." he drawled. "Now tell me the truth, who did this to you?" I shook my head, refusing to speak. I knew it would only make him angrier. "I asked you a question." he said, in a voice that sent shivers down my spine. I stared him straight in the eye. "Why should I tell you anything?" The look he gave me was terrifying. I'd never seen such coldness in his eyes before. He moved his hand, and I flinched. He grabbed my chin with his hand and forced my head to face him. "You will tell me what I want to know." I shook my head again, but he held me firmly in place. He was so strong, so powerful. "I told you before." I said, trying to keep the quiver from my voice. "I don't know who did this to me." He considered me for a moment before speaking again. "If you won't tell me, then we will wait for Lenox to get to the bottom of this." We didn't have to wait long. The girl from before returned, followed by my Alpha. His eyes shot to Alpha Black and then me before he scowled and crossed his arms. "What is the meaning of this, Black? What have you done to my omega?" "I'm merely conducting an investigation." Alpha Black replied. "It's my duty to ensure the safety of my pack, and in this case, that means questioning your omega. Someone in your pack has abused this girl, and I will not risk them attacking members of my pack while we're visiting." "I think you know what you are doing." Lenox said, his voice low and threatening. He took a step towards Black, who seemed to shrink away. "And I think you have overstepped your bounds." "I'm only following standard protocol." Alpha Black replied, his voice growing in volume and confidence. "I'm sure you're familiar with it, as the Alpha of your pack." "You are not the Alpha of my pack." Lenox replied, his voice low and threatening, but with an undercurrent of excitement. "I am." "I am painfully aware of that Lenox." Black replied dryly. "Just as I am aware that you know my reputation. I am, of course, happy to show you the truth behind it if you decide to continue with your threatening tone." Alpha Lenox blanched. "Fine, what has the little w***e told you?" "Little w***e, is it?" Black asked, c*****g one eyebrow. "Yes, she is known throughout the pack and has quite the reputation." "That's a lie!" I protested, clapping my hands over my mouth as I realized my mistake. It wasn't wise to challenge your Alpha, even if they weren't being honest. "We shall see who's lying." Alpha Lenox scoffed, shifting into his Alpha command tone. "Tell us, omega, who did this to you?" I couldn't stop myself. The command from my Alpha meant there was no option to remain quiet. "Matt." I whispered, hanging my head. Alpha Lenox's eyes grew wide. "We should move this discussion to my office." "Fine but summon your son as well." Black ordered. I followed the two men out of the cafeteria and down a long corridor to Lenox's office. The halls were deserted. The school was on break and Lenox was obviously not in the mood for conversation. His stylish suit made him look more like an executive from one of the neighboring skyscrapers rather than a principal of a private school. "Have a seat." Lenox waved me to the other side of his desk. Black sat down in a leather chair in front of the desk. He didn't appear to be the least bit embarrassed. In fact, he looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself. "Mr. Lenox, I think you're going to want to sit down as well." Black said. Alpha Lenox gave a stiff nod and took his seat behind his desk. He had just settled himself when Matt walked into the office. Fear crept through me and I stiffened as Matt's scent reached my nose. He was going to know that I had told someone, he was going to make me pay for it too. "Father, you summoned me?" He asked, keeping his face blank as he took in me seated next to Alpha Black. "Yes, I did," Alpha Lenox replied, his voice pitched in a low, cool tone. "I asked you to come here along with Alpha Black," he continued, turning to the man seated next to me. "Why? What's going on?" "It has been brought to my attention," Alpha Black said before Alpha Lenox could speak. "That you have assaulted my mate."
