Matt chuckled on the other end of the line. "Does Alpha Black know you think he's your mate? I mean, I'd assume he doesn't return the sentiment since he sent you here as a consolation prize."

I could hear the laughter in his voice, and I knew he was trying to goad me. But I also knew that he was right. If I went to the vampires, they would walk. And they would try to hurt Doug.

"Fine. I'll stay and ensure your father is even more wrapped around my finger with that delicious c**k of his. Just make sure you tell the vamps to make it fast. I don't want to be stuck here long enough to end up pregnant with one of your wretched kind."

I knew he'd heard the threat. With a gleeful chuckle, he hung up.
