Searching For Formulas

802 Words
Matt I had been searching for weeks, turning over every rock I could think of, but I still couldn't find the vampire poison formula. I was getting desperate. If I didn't find it soon, I would never be able to reclaim Raylyn from the Lycan. I had been searching for weeks, turning over every rock I could think of, but I still couldn't find it. I was starting to think it might be a lost cause. But I couldn't give up. I had to find it. It was the only hope I had left. I wouldn't, no I couldn't, let that Lycan scum keep my omega. She belonged to me. My father was starting to grow suspicious of my sniffing around. I had to pretend that I was trying to make up for losing my mate. I was, but not in a way he would have approved of. Still, he kept a close eye on me, making my search even more difficult. I had to be careful. I would have to be sneaky about it. It wouldn't be easy. If my father caught me, he would no doubt try to stop me. That wouldn't be hard, not with his strength. I couldn't let that happen. I had to find a way to get past him. I didn't know how long it would take me to find my omega, but I would do it. She was out there, waiting for me. I had to save her. I wouldn't give up on her. I had to get away from my father. He was going to be suspicious of me if I kept sniffing around like this. He was going to notice something, and then he would stop me. I knew that he would try to stop me, but I didn't know how he would do it. I needed to be ready for anything he was going to throw at me, but that wouldn't be easy. I knew what he was like. He was strong and smart, but I needed a plan if I was going to steal the formula without my father's notice. I had to get the formula and get it to the vampires before he could figure out what I was doing. If I didn't, then I stood no chance of stealing my mate back from the Lycan. "Hey, pop." I said, plopping into the empty chair in front of his desk. "Matt." He replied. "So, I was thinking it's time I learn about the labs. I know you plan to retire as Alpha soon, and I haven't been the best Alpha in training." "Oh, really?" He asked, raising an eyebrow. "Why the sudden change?" I shifted in my seat. This was harder than I thought it would be. "If I'm going to become an Alpha, I need to know more about the pack. Losing my mate made me really reevaluate things, and I'm tired of being in the dark." "Why do you have to be so hard to talk to?" He asked. "You know I'm always here for you if you need me." "I know, but I can't seem to get my thoughts together." I replied. "I feel like I'm going crazy, and I don't know what to do." "Losing a mate is hard." He replied. "When you're ready, you'll know what to do." I nodded and stood to leave. "Thanks dad. I'll be better, I promise." "You're the one who has to make that decision." He replied. "I'll be here whenever you want to talk or need some advice." "Thanks, I appreciate that." I replied. "If you genuinely want to start learning the ropes, I will show you. I don't think the labs are the right place to start. You've got a lot of work to do to earn my trust back before we go there." Shit, this was going to take too long. I had hoped being direct with him without telling him the whole truth would speed things up. I was going to have to pretend to go along with what my father wanted and hope it put him off my trail so I could follow him to the labs. "I do. I'm sorry, sir." He nodded, as if I had said everything he wanted to hear. "I'd like to see you at the gym every day. I'll work you out there and teach you everything you need to know before we start with the labs." "Yes, sir." He looked down at the floor. "Don't be discouraged. I know that feeling of not knowing what you're doing. I was like you once. I felt like a joke among the others. That's why I made it my top priority to learn everything I could about being an Alpha. You will too, it's just going to take a little effort."
