Matt
That f*****g Lycan stole my mate. She may not have been worthy of being my Luna, but she was still mine. I didn't care what it took, I was going to get her back and teach her a lesson.
What was worse was that my father seemed to side with the bastard. It didn't make sense. My mother wasn't his fated mate, he had chosen her for her beta blood, but I was supposed to accept some lowly omega to stand beside me.
I had listened to him berate me until he was satisfied, not wanting to give him a hint of what I intended to do. Once he was done, I stormed from the packhouse to the woods out back, stripping down and shifting before breaking into a run. There was only one place I knew I could get answers, and help, to kill a Lycan.
I ran until I reached the edge of the vampire settlement and stopped, listening. There were no guards posted that I could see, but that didn't mean they weren't there. I had to be careful. I waited for a few minutes before cautiously stepping out from the woods into the open.
The vampires had clearly been here for a few years, the settlement was well kept, but not without a touch of the wild. There were rows and rows of small huts, each one with a little plot of land designated for a garden.
The vampires' village had been silent when I first arrived, but now that I stood above it, I could see the lights blazing in the buildings. They were awake, and belligerent.
The settlement was dominated by a castle that seemed to be made of black glass, except for the sharp glint of steel behind it. Vampires had a tendencey to like strange things, including dwelling in castles where a castle made no sense. The thing was huge, three stories high and longer than a football field. From the towers, I heard guards on the walls, but they didn't seem to be concerned with me. Their gaze kept scanning the surrounding countryside, as if they were expecting an attack. The rest of the settlement was made up of a mix of wooden houses and buildings constructed from stone, including the tavern I was headed to.
I walked into the tavern, my heart pounding. It was a large, rectangular room with a stone fireplace on the far wall and a row of wooden tables and benches lining the sides. A bar ran along the left wall, with a barman, a big man with a bushy black beard, standing behind it.
I sat down at one of the tables and waited. A few minutes later, a door at the back of the room opened, and two women walked through. One was in her mid-twenties and had long blond hair, a slender build, and green eyes. She was wearing a leather jerkin and leather skirt, with a sword strapped to her waist. The other was in her early twenties, with long black hair, black eyes, and a slender build. She was wearing a leather jerkin and trousers. They approached my table.
"You're an awful long way from home, pup." said the blond-haired woman. She had an air of authority about her.
"I'm looking for someone." I said.
The woman laughed. "You'll have to be more specific, pup."
"I'm looking for someone who knows how to kill a Lycan." I replied.
The blonde's face broke into a wide grin, and her and the other woman sat down at my table.
"Well, you have come to the right place."
The other woman, a brunette, leaned in closer, "Who sent you?"
"I'm here on my own. I'm doing this for revenge." I said.
"Revenge is a dish best served cold." The blonde said.
"I disagree, I think revenge is best served bloody." The brunette said.
"What's your name, pup?" The blonde asked.
"I'm Matt."
The blonde said, "I'm Amy."
Amy took a sip of her drink, then said, "You're cute. For a werewolf."
"Thanks." I said. "You're not so bad yourself, for a bloodsucker."
Amy was an attractive woman. I couldn't help but stare at her perfect round breasts, erect n*****s, and slim waist. Her hips were soft and curvy. Her blonde hair was cut short, framing her beautiful face. Her bright blue eyes were captivating. She was wearing a short black skirt, black stockings, and black heels. She was the epitome of a femme fatale. It was hard to believe she was a vampire. I wanted to jump on top of her and f**k her brains out. I wanted to run my hands over her beautiful body. I wanted to run my tongue up her neck and bite her throat. I wanted to suck on her t**s until her n*****s were purple and swollen. My erection was throbbing in my pants. I took another drink of my beer and tried to distract myself from thinking about Amy.
"So, tell us about your Lycan. We had heard their numbers have dwindled, there is only one pack of the foul creatures left." Amy spoke.
I gulped down the last of my drink and set the glass on the table. "I'm not sure what you want me to say." I met Amy's gaze. "There's not much to tell. He's my target." I paused. "And yes, their numbers have dwindled, but that doesn't mean they're gone. They're just harder to find."
Amy studied me for a few moments before she continued. "And you're certain it's a male?"
I nodded. "Yes, a full-blooded Lycan."
"And how long have you been hunting them?"
"Since the bastard stole my mate."
I saw the pity in her eyes, and it made me angry. I didn't want her sympathy. I wanted her help. "Please, I'll do anything. Just tell me what to do."
"Anything?"
I nodded. "Yes."
"I want you to have a seat."
"What?" I demanded. I couldn't believe what was happening. Here I was, desperate for her help, and she was playing with me. "How can you sit there and make jokes while my mate is being held captive by a madman?"
She leaned back and crossed her legs. "I've been looking for Lycans for a hundred years, and I've had plenty of time to get good at my job. If you want to help your mate, then you'll do what I tell you." She looked directly into my eyes. "Do you understand?"
I shook my head. "I don't know if I can trust you."
"That's your choice. But if you don't trust me, then you're wasting my time, and that means you're wasting your mate's time." She shook her head and let out a sigh. "I don't have time to deal with people who are going to waste my time. I have an eternity to do this, but you mate doesn't." She looked at me and smiled. "So, what's it going to be?"
I couldn't believe what she was saying. She really wanted me to believe that she wanted to help me. "If you really want to help me, then do as I say."
"What do you want me to do?"
"I want you to go back to your home and get me some information."
"What kind of information?"
"It is rumored your kind has created a poison to kill vampires. I want you to bring me the formula... and the antidote."
"I can't believe you want me to do this."
"I am willing to help you, but first you must prove to me that you aren't trying to kill me or another of my kind."
"If us werewolves had a way to kill you vamps, why would I hand it over to you?"
"Because you need a vampire to kill a Lycan." She smiled. "Unless, of course, your mate isn't as important to you as you claim."
I glared at her. "I'm not here because I think she's disposable. I'm here because I know that if something happens to her, I won't be able to go on."
Her eyes widened a fraction. "How can you be so sure of that?"
"Because I'm... in love with her."
"I see. And when did you become aware of this?"
"Last night."
"Last night? You've known her for a while and you've only just decided that you are in love with her?"
"I'm not sure I even knew what love was until last night. I'm not sure I do now. But if what I feel for her is love, then yes, it didn't occur to me until last night. But as soon as I realized it, it was like everything seemed to make sense."
"If you love her as you say, do as I have asked and I will help you kill your Lycan."
