Taking pity on her.

" Grandfather, why did you come, I could have handled them myself." " Aren't you happy to your grandpa? Poor me, I thought you would be happy that I helped you." Yaa's lips twitched when she heard the word help. Even if she was on her dying bed, she would never ask for help. " I never asked for your help. Now if you will excuse me, I have somewhere to be.'' She walked away after speaking and old master Boateng turned to her friends. In a sad voice he said" please take good care of Yayaa for me." He paused he asked " how has she been, do you think she is finally getting over what happened three years ago?" The three friends looked at each other's face before Esi Owusu spoke " I think she has been going too hard on herself. Gradually, she has crawled deep into her shell and it's going to be hard for her to come out if this goes on. Her nightmares have become worse than it was. * sign* I'm afraid if she doesn't open up soon, she will never be able to do that." " Is she seeing a therapist?" he asked again and Nana answered " She insists she doesn't need help. She always find ways and means to avoid a therapist." " I can't see her suffer, do you think sending her on a vacation will help?" The trio nodded. Then Ama said " But how would we get her to go. We can't just tell her we want to send her on a vacation, she would reject before we even finish our sentences. Of course, beautiful me can do that but I don't want my high IQ mind to be stressed. You know that girl is one of the two people who I know that can frustrate a narcissist. " They left there after failing to come to conclusions. ********** The next day, they all went to their perspective work places leaving Yaa at home. Ama had an interview. Esi was working on a new design and Nana who was a hacker and the CEO of a gaming company had signed for a challenge online so he went to work on it. As usual, Yaa woke up in the afternoon after having the same nightmare she had been having since three years ago. Her face was deadly pale when she looked at her reflection in the mirror but oddly, she wasn't shocked. She had become accustomed to it. Today she had planned to visit a couple of places so she bathed, dressed and headed out. An hour later, she paid the cap driver and got out. She headed towards a woman who was in her mid forties. "Aunt Afua", she greeted. The woman turned her head when she heard her name and she was shocked when she saw who it was. "Yayaa, I'm so sorry, I heard about what happened yesterday. How are you feeling?" she ranted with her voice filled with concern. And again Yaa's lips twitched. Apart from hating it when she asked for help and someone trying to help her, the next thing she hated was people taking pity on her. Afua Koomson was the only maid that secretly took care of Yaa when she was young. Anytime the young lady was facing any problems, she would wait until the whole household was asleep then she would sneak into Afua Koomson's quarters and the duo would discuss it at length and what to do about it if they could. She had a son who was two years older than her but surprisingly, they never liked each other when they where young. As they grew, they had to put up with each other on account of Afua, due to this, the grew nuetural towards each other. When she established her company and needed an acting CEO, she remembered him and thus asked him to be the company's face. Since he was unemployed at that time, he readily agreed. After staying with Afua Koomson for an hour, she left and headed towards her company. ' Shiling corporation' was the name of the company. She built it from her own hard work and sweat a year and a half ago. Through vigilance, the company had risen so high that it's competitors naturally turned to it's enemies as expected. Just like at her grandfather's company, she wore a black mask, a hat and sunglasses to avoid being noticed. As usual, the employees were wondering who she was but most of them where already used to her presence. Since the company was established, she would come here once every month so they assumed she was someone who was related to their CEO. She swiped her card and the private elevator opened. This elevator was built for her, the assistant and her employed CEO. Soon, she reached the last floor and walked straight to the CEO's office. She knocked before she entered since she respected other's privacy. Just like his mother, Kwaku Koomson was shocked to see her. He knew she would come it was just that he never expected her to show up. He soon got over his shock since he was half accustomed to it. She never informed when she would come. " Welcome kid. You should have informed me before you came." he said. She walked over to the couch and sat down unhurriedly and lazily. " This is my company, I can come and go as I please." She had her head tilted as she narrowed her eyes and studied his every movement. After a while, the secretary brought her banana smoothie that was made according to her preference. He too like the other employees didn't know she was and thought she was Kwaku Koomson's sister so he treated her with respect. After he gave it, to her, he excused the two and resumed his work. Since it was only the two of them present, she removed her glasses and mask but left the hat on. When he left there was silence for a minute before Kwaku Koomson broke it. " The CEO of Ankomah company requested and audien......" "Reject it." Before he could even finish his statement, her lazy voice rang "Pardon?" Kwaku asked since he was not sure he heard her right. Did she just tell him to reject, Ankomah corporation? If it were any other company, he would not be shocked, but the were talking about Kwame Ankomah of Ankomah corporation. As in the number one company in the country, the one that was part of the world's best fifty companies. Sure Baa Yoateng was also part of the top ten companies in the country but it was in the world's best top hundred and not fifty. Though this was quite impressive considering the fact that the company was started a year and a half ago but still, did she know of what benefit it will be for the company if they got in Kwame Ankomah's good books? He didn't mind taking her place if she was not interested. " I said reject them." Her voice pulled him out of his reverie back to reality. " Okay, if you say so, but kid, think about it, this is going to benefit the company in many ways." He explained hoping she would change her mind, instead she narrowed her eyes and stared at him, as if daring him to do otherwise. He sighed before he said" Fine". He knew once she had that look on her face, it meant she was serious about her decision.
