Chapter 16 He found me behind the bleachers, blocking my path with an intensity that made my heart stumble. “Stop running,” he growled. “Get out of my way.” My voice cracked. “I saw enough.” “You saw what she wanted you to see,” he snapped, his hands slamming against the wall on either side of me, caging me in. His face was inches from mine, his breath hot on my cheek. “Do you really think I’d ever want her?” My lips parted, words tangled, lost. “You drive me insane,” he whispered, voice rough, almost broken. “And I’m not letting you go.” For a heartbeat, I thought he might kiss me. But he was everywhere—his footsteps echoing behind me, his shadow stretching across classrooms, his gaze heavy on my back. Sabrina passed me in the halls with her cruel little smirks, convinced she had won. But every time he looked at me, fierce and unyielding, I knew she hadn’t. Because the walls I built inside myself were crumbling. And no matter how hard I tried to hate him, the bond pulling me closer only grew stronger.
