Sacrifice

******FLASHBACK*******

(Zeus POV)

"Hey Vee, I think we should move on from here." I said as I ran is hand through his wet hair. "Don't get me wrong, I'm loving the lake and the girls that come with it, but we have been here over a month and still haven't heard anything from anyone."

"I know, but I would prefer if we had a vehicle so we don't have to run another 600 miles." Venus whined as she finished folding the laundry. She had taken a liking to the slow quiet life of the Higgin's lake and the ability to shift and run as she pleased with nobody around to watch.

The cabin the currently were staying in was a little run down but the price was affordable. They had two bedroom, a kitchen, a tv with a couch and small living room, as well as a screened in porch. The place was set back into the forest that encircled the lake and if they hadn't been running in the woods they would have missed it. The landlady was nice and kept to herself, she was human but older and knew a few things she shouldn't. 

"I'm thinking we should go west, there is a pack that direction that rumor has it takes in rogues" I said while drying myself off from the quick swim I took.

"Oh, but we aren't rogues, at least we don't smell like one." She stated while sniffing the air. She shook her head, "I found a few vehicles for sale in the local paper, we should go look at them."

"No, I'll go look at them and bring back the winner, I can't trust you around people." I said with a smirk.

"That was one time, and he deserved it . Nobody calls my little brother an asshat but me," she growled.

I just laughed and went to grab my wallet, shirt, and shoes before she handed me the list and headed out.

The first one was a rusted out jeep and I didn't even stop, the next was a small Geo Metro that I could use as a roller skate, so a big nope there, and finally was a Dodge Ram with mild rust but it's engine was perfect. Sold! I bought it and started heading back.

Hey we have a problem Apollo said as I could feel him pacing back and forth in my head.

"What's up"

Can you reach Vee? I am unable to reach Lilly.

"VEEEEE, Oh VEEEE" I sang in my head as I reached out to her, but the connection felt fuzzy. "Weird, the link feels funny." 

Ok I was nervous now, last time it felt this way we were on the run from the hunters.

"Zo, They're here I am heading ..." 

"s**t Vee where are you?"

silence filled my head and Apollo just whined and started to run laps in my head.

"s**t , s**t , s**t, ok calm down Zeus we can do this"

"Please Moon Goddess direct me to my sister"

At first nothing happened the slowly almost like I was turning up the volume I finally heard it.

"Go forth" it sang

"Um what, you mean straight?"

"Go forth" it sang again

I slammed down the accelerator and flung dust up as I flew down the dirt road. I passed the road that led to our cabin and was about to ask if I was still headed in the correct direction when it sang again.

"East as the sun rises"

Not seeing a road to turn down I swerved into the forest and was driving like a crazy man trying to avoid trees and running over everything else. I heard it, the sound I was dreading, gunfire.

"Vee can you hear me, I'm close"

"...Zo....Ov....here....hind  the...cabin"

Relief and anger swept through me as I heard her voice, she didn't sound scared, she sounded pissed. I broke through the trees into a farmers field and turned toward the house that sat off to the left of me. I sped up as I saw eight hunters stalking towards it. They turned their attention to me when I got a little closer and arrows and bullets ripped through the cab of the truck. 

Smoke started to billow out from under the hood of the truck as I pushed it faster toward the house. I had my shield out around myself not caring for the truck. I slid to a stop behind the house and jumped out.

"Vee?" I whisper yelled

"Here" She called from behind a small shed that stood in the corner of the yard.

She was hurt, there was an arrow in her shoulder and it looked like a few grazing wounds on her legs. "s**t, you ok?" I asked as I ran to her.

"Do I look ok? These bitches are using silver" She whined as she pulled the arrow out. Blood poured out of the wound, but I ripped my shirt off and shredded it, wrapping her shoulder up and any other wound that wouldn't stop bleeding.

"We have to get out of here, however they totaled the truck." I sighed as I looked over to the now hole filled vehicle that was suppose to enable us to flee. "f**k!" 

She must live, we will be fine, but she will not survive if she doesn't run, Apollo growled, the sight of her like this made his alpha come out stronger than before. 

"Vee can you go unseen and run to the west, find Grand Oaks. We will be safe there." I said as I thought about how I was going to protect her and get her out of here.

"You're coming with me right? Why are you making it sound like I'm the only one leaving?" Venus asked as tears started to swell up in her eyes.

"i will be fine, just know I love you and we will meet again," I said as I turned and started running toward the enemy. "Now go!"

"Zeus No!" She screamed as I was hit with two different arrows, I had dropped my shields enough to let them hit me but not do much damage. I had to play the part to let her escape. I stumbled and fell down on my side so I could see her face and winked at her tear stricken face as she turned into mist and vanished.

"I will save you." Venus said in the link as I felt her move further away from me as I slowly let the silver in so I could slip into darkness that was sure to follow.

"Finally got you," One of the hunters said as he kicked my stomach and a groan escaped my lips.

"Time to meet the boss, he's been waiting to meet his brother's great grandson."

Wait what did she just say?
