Chapter Twelve The bright May mornings that followed were so delightfully sweet; I could hear myself singing inside. I felt more deeply fulfilled than I had been in some months, and I greeted the spring, longing for the promise of more. I owed my sense of satisfaction to the club. Several days passed after my evening with Joanna. I missed her. She’d left on business the day after we made love and I would not have the chance to be with her again for at least a week.
