It happened basically overnight, all the prominent world leaders simply disappeared. The world itself fell swiftly into utter chaos. Some countries attempted to reestablish some form of control or government, but we're usually met with assassination or simple upheaval due to lack of support. The people were afraid and restless and eventually turned on each other. There were riots and looting, which only intensified when food started to run out. When everything seemed to be a the tipping point into hell, a group came forward. They called themselves The New Haven and were led by one man. He established himself worldwide and promised food, safety, and stability if you joined him. The founder never showed his face, but put his message out through propaganda. He also sent out soilders who would pass out food in the wastelands. They offered to take people back to New Haven but appeared otherwise peaceful. There is two things we know; whoever went to see New Haven never came back and we could not trust this new order. That is why we must fight against him, no matter what it takes. **** Ren and Cam sat in the ruins of a once popular city, however most of the buildings had been destroyed in the original panic by a fire. The New Haven had been established for a year by this point and we're considered to be an undisputed territory of peace, with a compound on every continent. They often came out to bring food, once a month like clockwork, which is why Ren and Cam were waiting. They were part of the resistance and had saved up enough supplies to trail the guards back to their compound. The wind blew up a spiral of dirt causing Ren to sneeze. Most of America was in a drought state so dust storms were a normal part of life at this point. Ren was a 5'7", redhead with bright brown eyes. She always wore a beanie over her spikey short hair. Today she was also wearing a black crop top that hugged her voluptuous breasts and showed off her toned abs, paired with baggy black cargo pants and combat boots. She touched the com on her neck, "Cam, you still with me?" "Always." A deep husky voice responded making Ren smile. Cam was posted in an old parking garage across the way from them, "I haven't seen anyone... wait. There's two New Haven soilders going into a building about three ahead of us." "What? They never go in the buildings." "Yeah, I don't even see the Jeep and the people are still waiting for the handouts to arrive." Ren paused for a moment, "Call back to base. See what captain wants us to do." Cam grunted an acknowledgement and disappeared for a couple minutes. "Captain wants us to follow. Saber and Joey are being sent to watch the handout zone." "Rendezvous with me a street over. Let's catch them off guard." "It's a date." He chuckled before packing up his rifle and heading down the remains of stairs. Ren smiled when Cam met up with her. Cams 6'4", with long curly brown hair tied back in a high ponytail, his deep brown eyes always had a tint of mischief, though his left eye had a four inch straight scar going through it from where a bionic eye was put in. He also had to stay shirtless due to a robotic arm from the elbow down and metal platting over his shoulder, causingbim togeveal his ripped physique. He was holding his Glock on one side of the door while Ren had he dessert eagle on the other side. Cam used his eye to scan the area for anyone and for surveillance devices. "There's one camera right inside the door, but there's only two heat signals. They appear to have moved to the basement." This building collapsed on the back side so the door they were at was the only way in or out. Ren nodded and Cam placed his size 14 combat boot into the door, bashing it open. She ran in, fun ready. Ren was caught off guard to find a perfectly square room, that was entirely white. Cam came in just as confused when suddenly a metal door came sliding up from the ground, replacing the one that had been kicked in. Ren and Cam went back to back and started scanning the room. They grabbed the masks from their cargo pants right as the roof lit up. A man's face appeared, he had shoulder length brown hair and kind green eyes, "Hello friends. I'm...well I guess my name doesn't matter, most people are calling me the leader of New Haven, though most people haven't seen my face. So consider yourself lucky!" the man chuckled, "Anyway it seems you have stumbled into one of my buildings and I do apologize for that. I'm sure my guards will be by soon to let you out. Please enjoy refreshments until then. Bye for now!" A white circle table with fruit and bottled water rose from the floor. Cam chuckled, "what a load of..." He glanced over at Ren and her face was still turned towards the roof, eyes wide in terror. He'd never seen her like that before. "Ren?" he touched her shoulder and she jumped away. She wound up in the corner with her legs curled towards her chest like a frightened animal. Cam came over and sat beside her, putting the rifle off to the side. "Hey," he gently touched her knee and felt her shaking. His eyes widened, this was the same girl that had pulled him from under a burning car during the fall out, who had been shot twice helping to get Joey back to Saber and never flinched. This wasn't even the first time they'd been trapped by someone, though it was more theatrical. He yanked her over and she buried her head into his broad chest, his shirt smelled like he'd been at a bonfire and it relaxed her. He tested his scruffy chin on her hat, "you know I won't let anything happen to you, right?" Ren wanted to cherish being so close to him, but the atmosphere wasn't helping. she shifted so she was now leaning against his arm, "Guess I lost my cool there, huh?" Cam arched an eyebrow, "you were cool?" She playfully elbowed his ribs. "Are you going to tell me what happened?" Ren looked away from him. "I...I know Nick. He used to be a genetic researcher, I'm not sure when he shifted to" see waved her hand "world domination." "There were guys before me?" Cam asked playfully, trying to lighten the mood. Ren chuckled, "Yeah and I was his favorite test subject." Cam's expression hardened. She reached up to her hat and swiftly took it off. Large fox like ears popped up, She felt the heat on her face. "I ran away when I was 20 years old. He told me he loved me for what I was but said I had to hide from others because I was a freak. It wasn't until I was 20 that I found out he was the one who made me this way." Tears rolled down her face, "He never loved me, I was just the most successful subject." She felt her stomach turning. Cam was beautiful and amazing. She never wanted him to see that she belonged to the circus. She couldn't look him in the eye. Cam placed his hand on her head, between her ears, "so, um, don't take this the wrong way, but, your ears are really cute." Her ears sprang up in surprise and she looked up to see his blushing face. Her heart felt like it was melting.
